GREATER and LESSER LIGHT, part 2
“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them.” Isaiah 8:20.
In our last Newsletter we learned that it was prophesied in the Bible that God would raise up a last day prophet to help His remnant-elect people become prepared for the second coming of Jesus Christ. We then discovered that God raised up and given Ellen G. White the Spirit of Prophecy, thus fulfilling this Bible prophecy.
We then understood that as time draws closer to the end, the devil becomes more angry, more determined and more deceptive to try and devour, destroy and deceive God’s remnant followers before Christ returns. And in order to prevent this, the inspired writings of the Bible and the inspired writings of Ellen White are God’s chosen method to protect His remnant people from being deceived, from perishing and being lost.
We also discovered that the Bible is the greater light and the Spirit of Prophecy is the lesser light. As this is true, then why did God give His last day people 2 lights? Isn’t just the greater light of the Bible enough?
To help us understand this, we need to go all the way back to the beginning of this earth.
“And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: [he made] the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that [it was] good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.” Genesis 1:14-19.
These verses reveal that God created 2 great lights - the sun and the moon - to rule over and give light upon the earth in their proper place. This means that it was God’s will for there to be 2 lights and not just one, and He declared these 2 lights to be good. The light of the sun was given by God to rule over the day in dispelling darkness by its greater light. If there was no sun, then the darkness would rule over the day. So to prevent this, God created the sun.
Now the sun does not shine 24 hrs a day on the same area of earth, but only 12. So if there was only the sun to give us light and dispel darkness, then at night little to no darkness would be dispelled, thus allowing the darkness of night to rule. So God created the moon in addition to the sun to prevent darkness from ruling over the night, and it is the moon that rules over the night and by its lesser light it helps to dispel darkness. So God created the sun and the moon to work harmoniously together in order to rule over, combat and dispel darkness 24 hours a day, which prevents the darkness from ruling.
But where does the light of the moon come from? The moon is not a star like the sun, but it is a planet, and a planet does not have its own light. This fact of truth is proved during each of the 4 major cycles or phases of the moon as well as in a lunar eclipse. When the earth passes either partially or fully between the sun and the moon, the moon becomes dark, which proves that the moon does not shine with its own light or it would not get dark at all.
As this is true, then where does the light of the moon come from? It comes from the sun. This fact of truth is proved when there is a solar eclipse. When the moon passes between the sun and the earth, the sun becomes dark and also the moon is dark, which proves that the moon does not shine with its own light, but all of the light of the moon comes from the sun. So when the light of the sun shines upon the moon, the surface of the moon reflects some of this sunlight and helps to dispel darkness.
So both the sun and the moon are God’s chosen agencies to combat and dispel darkness. Both have their proper place of rulership and their proper work to do. But their 2 lights are not different from each other, because it is sunlight that is seen reflecting off the surface of the moon. This means that even though God gave 2 lights to dispel darkness and rule over the earth, yet in reality it is the same source of light that dispels darkness in both cases. The same with the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy.
The Bible - like the sun - is the greater light, while the Spirit of Prophecy - like the moon - is the lesser light. Both of these are God’s chosen agencies to rule in their proper place in combating and dispelling darkness. But the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy are only 1 word - the inspired word of God, just like the sun and the moon both shine with only 1 light source - the light of the sun. And who is this one word of God? Jesus Christ (Revelation 1:9-13; 1 John 1:1), and who can represent the sun? The sun of righteousness - Jesus Christ (Malachi 4:2). This means that the source of light in both the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy is Jesus - the Way, Truth and Life (John 14:6).
Now, God created both the sun and the moon to occupy their proper places in our solar system, He also established their particular set courses to follow. If the sun would move much closer to earth, the earth would be scorched with its heat and soon become uninhabitable. But if the sun moved significantly farther away from earth, the earth would grow cold from lack of its heat and would soon become uninhabitable. In a similar manner, if the moon moved much closer to earth, its gravitational tidal effects upon large bodies of waters on earth would produce tidal waves devastating shoreline and inland areas. But if it moved significantly farther away, it would have very little tidal effect upon large bodies of waters, thus causing these waters to become stagnate, and death would soon occur to anything that depended upon these waters to survive.
In addition, God created both the sun and the moon to have their own particular beneficial effects upon the living things on earth. For instance, it is the light of the sun which is necessary for all plants and vegetation to photosynthesize and produce sugars in order to grow strong and healthy. But it is by the gravitational pull of the moon in its new and/or full phases that brings up sufficient moisture into the soil which allows seeds to swell with water so they can then germinate, sprout and grow upwards to reach the sun light. So without both the sun and the moon working harmoniously together, plant life could not exist and thus all life would be in jeopardy of dying.
Through these facts of truth we can understand that even though the sun and the moon each occupy different places, each follows a different set course and each has their own different effects upon the earth, yet they each complement one another, harmonize together and are united as one in order for life to exist and flourish.
But we can also understand that if either the sun or the moon were to rebel against the purpose for which God created them, and independently followed their own course, then no life would be possible on this earth. Yet it is because they both remain faithfully obedient to God’s will and have never changed or altered their set course which God created them to occupy, that all life can sprout, grow and flourish on this earth. And this is only because they both work and are united together. This shows us that both the sun and the moon are necessary for life to exist and flourish, and without one or the other, all life would be in jeopardy of dying. So it takes both, not just one, for life to exist and flourish! The same with the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy.
If either the Bible or the Spirit of Prophecy would rebel against the purpose for which God raised them up to occupy in teaching only the truths of God, and would instead independently follow their own course and teach their own erroneous falsehoods, then all spiritual life would be in jeopardy of dying. But because they both remain faithfully obedient to God and have never changed or altered His words of truth and thus have never taught any error or unrighteous principles, then all spiritual life can grow and flourish because of their united loyalty to God. This clearly shows us that both the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy are necessary for all spiritual life to exist and flourish, and without one or the other, spiritual life would be in jeopardy of dying. So it takes both, not just one, for spiritual life to exist and flourish!
The Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy together shine with only 1 light source – Jesus, the sun of righteousness; and both together testify of only 1 word - Jesus the word of God. And if we want our spiritual life to grow and flourish, then what must we do?
“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4.
“And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” Luke 4:4.
These inspired passages reveal to us that if we desire an abundant fullness of life, both physically and especially spiritually, then it is obtained by following God’s word. But notice that Christ did not state that we were to follow just some of the word of God, or half, or even most of the word, but that we were to follow “every word of God”. So we cannot just follow some of inspiration and ignore other inspired words, but we must follow every inspired word from God if we want our spiritual life to grow and flourish.
Dear ones, God is testing every one of us today on this very point. He is allowing different trials and adverse situations to occur in order to humble us so that we can understand and accept this very truth. Especially is God testing those who have separated from all apostate churches and are following Christ out in the wilderness, just as He tested His people of old.
“And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, [and] to prove thee, to know what [was] in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every [word] that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.” Deuteronomy 8:2-3.
As God is testing each one of His separated followers today on this very issue of living by every word of God, then, dear ones, how are you responding to these tests? Are you humbly submitting to God’s will to accept and live by every word of God in the Bible and in the Spirit of Prophecy? Or are you proudly refusing to live by every word of God, choosing only to follow some or most of God’s word, but not those words which you disagree with? I pray that not a single one of us will fail this last day test!
Now the sun and the moon are not the only lights God created. He also created stars to shine in the firmament and help by their light to combat and dispel darkness. But even though these stars are shining 24 hours a day, yet their light is very faint because they are so far away from earth. In fact, their light is so dim that during the day time the greater light of the sun supercedes all of their light to the point that they cannot be seen at all, and even at night these stars do not do very much to combat and dispel darkness compared to the light of the moon. This is one reason why God did not place these stars closer to earth because He did not design that these stars were themselves to rule over the night, but were instead to aid the moon in rulership of dispelling darkness by its light.
All of these stars shine with their own light and are in their own particular place where God designed they were to be. Also, each star is different from another star. Some heavenly stars shine brighter, while others dimmer, showing that each star differs from another star in individuality (1 Corinthians 15:41). In fact, God has given to each star their own personal name, which clearly shows the individuality of each star from one another (Psalms 147:4; Isaiah 40:26). But it is by all of these dim stars unitedly shining at the same time that they help the moon to rule over darkness at night.
Now, as the Bible can represent the greater light of the sun, and as the Spirit of Prophecy can represent the lesser light of the moon, then what can represent the very faint light of the stars?
Stars can represent angels:
– Angels were represented as stars singing after God created the earth (Job 38:4-7).
– Angels were represented as stars over 7 churches (Revelation 1:20).
Stars can also represent human brings:
– The brothers of Joseph were represented as stars (Genesis 37:9-10).
– The followers of God were represented as stars being persecuted and cast down by the little horn (Daniel 8:9-10).
– Wise ministers of righteousness were depicted as stars (Daniel 12:3).
– The 12 tribes of the church (woman) of Israel were represented as being stars in her crown (Revelation 12:1).
All these passages reveal to us that stars can represent angels as well as human beings.
Now as stars are all different from one another, the same with angels and human beings: we each have our different gifts and talents, showing that each differs from one another. Also, the heavenly stars are not all grouped together, but each have their own specific place to let their light shine. The same with angels and human beings: we do not all live in the same place, but each has their own specific place to let their light shine (Isaiah 60:1-3; Matthew 5:14-16). Also, as each heavenly star has their own personal name, so each angel and human being have their own name.
This means that in order to dispel darkness, God created the greater light of the sun, the lesser light of the moon, and the even dimmer light of the stars. All these lights are designed by God to combat darkness, but it was God’s will that the stars were to aid the moon in rulership over the darkness of night and not to rule by themselves. So in like manner, God raised up the greater light of the Bible, the lesser light of the Spirit of Prophecy, and even the dimmer light of human beings to combat and dispel darkness. But it is God’s will that human beings are to aid the Spirit of Prophecy in rulership over the darkness and they are not to rule by themselves.
But not every heavenly star remains obedient to God’s will to aid the moon in ruling over darkness. And next time we will find out what happens to these kind of wayward stars.

GENERAL FOREIGN MISSION WORK NEEDS
We are currently supporting workers in different Countries on a monthly basis. We check into the economy of each area and supply a base support which is adequate depending on their situation, but not extravagant. This base support is to ensure that the monthly needs of each worker and family is met for that month so that the worker may devote full time to the ministry work. In addition to this, we are sending extra materials for evangelism, and money for printing, publishing, holding meetings, traveling, and other necessary areas in spreading the Present Truth in their Country. And as the work extends, especially will the expenses for evangelism expand. Whatever you can send to help in this necessary and vital area is greatly appreciated.
The work of spreading God's present truth is not to be limited, but must extend world-wide to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people before our Saviour can come (Matthew 24:14). What better way of spreading the Present Truth Gospel than by having workers who speak the native language, who reside in that particular Country, who can live and preach the truth, visit the interests in their homes, and spread the printed truth translated into their native language!
"Our publications should be printed in other languages, that foreign nations may be reached. Much can be done through the medium of the press, but still more can be accomplished if the influence of the living preacher goes with our publications....The Lord has moved upon men of other tongues and has brought them under the influence of the truth, that they might be qualified to labor in His cause." Testimonies, vol 3, p 204-205.

I found Let There Be Light Ministries a few months ago, I've been reading some of your Spanish booklets and I'm very interested in obtaining them. Please let me know if there's a charge for them or if they are free. I'm a Seventh Day Adventist since I was little, but in Oct of 2008 I received this beautiful message (The Third Angel’s Message and) separated from the church in 2009.

I want to thank you for letting me know that the (Spanish) booklets aren't available (in print) at this moment. I'll sure make a copy of them. My husband has maybe one or two of those Spanish booklets and he treasures them so dearly. Someone gave them to him many years ago, so when I shared with him that I had found your ministry and also...shared with him the titles of the booklets I had found on your page he went ahead and checked on his booklet the name of the ministry who had written them and discovered it was your ministry - the same ministry I had recently found. He was so happy because he knew he could acquire more because he lost some of them.

CORRESPONDENCE FROM FOREIGN WORKERS
FROM KENYA, EAST AFRICA
Good morning brother Robert,
Hoping that this finds you well and active in the service of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Praise God.
It has been a while, but nevertheless, we are all fine. We had a national elders' meeting between June 26 and 29 in ____. It brought together elders from many areas in Kenya stretching from Coast, Central, Nairobi, Rift Valley and Nyanza regions. The purpose was to look into ways we can forge forward unity of purpose as we see the time coming to an end. This was the second meeting the first of which was in ____ in January. We had a peaceful meeting at the end of which it was resolved to have a National Youth Conference in ____ between 11th and 18th August. We need much prayers given our volatile situation in Kenya as you could be seeing in the media.
We made 100 copies of Protestant History by photocopy (which I have come to realize is expensive). But later on we made plates for Abomination of Desolation Stands and have run 2000 copies @Ksh.35000 inclusive of typesetting and plating.
We are working on Controversy over Revelation 18 and the Issue of Tithe. But with the remaining funds, we may do (only) one. We gave priority to tracts and booklets for evangelistic outreach. Hopefully we'll have enough copies of these ready by the time we go to camps in August.
We will need funding to secure Bibles in Kiswahili and Ekegusii as their practices are higher with the available means.
Looking forward to greater work as time closes in to the end.

I am replying your email...Elder thank you very much for this timely email...Praise be to God....
Please let me share my reasons (sorrows and disappointments) why I am silent for a while, and to make long stories short....
My sister behind me passed away on the 18th February and buried her on the 22nd Feb. And on the 25th Feb ____, a diseased husband, (became) drunk and (began) destroying his kids and house, so I was disappointed and out of control...
Another issue raised among ourselves as 5 of our faithful members from the church left us and joined the Health Reform movement on the 24th...(in spite of) Our leaders faithfully visiting them.
In the month of July my phone was pulled out from pocket by tags from the crowds. For almost six weeks I was without the phone.
(The) 8th August ____'s elder sister died and the next day 9th August my father's youngest brother passed away at the hospital. And on the 14th of August while burying the deads, a news reached me saying ____ your father has closed his eyes....
I was deep down into the ocean of painful moments, and during our hardest moment no one came in to our home for visits or prayer with us accept only a single couple was with us until we recovered slowly to this stage now.
____ and I sit and think back to the past: "Why all these things are happening in our lives"?...I’m in great SORROW & pain because I started losing my blood families. I am really DISAPPOINTED because I have done nothing for the Lord God Almighty for (a while)...
My dearest brother I am so sad for not been contacting you...During this moment, I and my family went through the hardest and darkest hour. Please keep us in your daily prayers....
September 6th, Pope Francis visited our country and left. After he left, I was surprised to received many phone calls and text messages asking questions, and others appreciate for the booklets WHY PROTESTANT BOWING TO POPE while others were requesting. I am busy corresponding with different individuals on Papal's movement.
Last week we have closed our week long District mini camp....

I am busy in translating of your study, printing thousand copies of variety of tracts, folding and arranging them, and by the help of my family and the brethren here, we did house to house work, distributing these tracts to people. We are also giving Bible study and health lecture to some people. We also have our online worship and Bible study every night. We are also dividing our time to spend our Sabbath with the brethren in different localities so we can strengthen and encouraged them also in the faith especially those new in the faith.
There are several sick people in our country site area, where people come over us, asking me to teach and help them how to recover from their sickness through natural remedies. I have been known in this place because of several sick people that I've helped through the knowledge and light from the Lord through natural remedies. So when people are sick in this place, they go to me and seek an advice and help how they may be healed. This is also an opportunity for me, not only to help them but to lead them to Christ, the great Healer and Physician both of physical and spiritual. For this reason, I am planning to enrol to an online lifestyle medicine course to have a certificate and then if God willing, we will put or build or establish mini sanitarium or lifestyle center to help more people know how to care and cure their diseased bodies through natural remedies and it maybe the entrance for them to receive or know the gospel of salvation. I am asking you brother Bob to please include these in your prayers to the Lord for these.
Brother Bob, last June 16-22, we held our camp meeting in ____. We went home last June 24. Thank God for His guidance and protection for our long and tiring trip and for allowing us to be part of the camp meeting in ____. After arriving at home here in ____, we just stayed for a day and went to our country/camp site to do some preparations for our upcoming youth camp to be held this coming July 7-13 and on the 13th, will be our fellowship for the whole ____. In this youth camp, we will teach our young people on doctrinal studies and then on practical training and then we will do house to house work, giving out or distribute tracts to people and if some people are open for Bible studies, we will also do that. By this we may also encouraged the youth to help in the Lord's work....
This last August 22, me and my daughter ____ went to ____ for the purpose of attending the ____ brethren fellowship and gatherings....Going there we travel by plane and then stay for one day in ____. We wanted to meet and see my husband's nieces and nephews who now lives and ____ and encouraged or invite them to attend the fellowship. They also lived here in ____ before and during their younger years, they were worshipping on Sabbath with us. These children grew with us and I'd been a second mother and a teacher to them, guiding and teaching them the way of the Lord. But then since the time that they move to ____, they backslide from the Lord. And they have been living in ____ for a decade or more and they are all full grown up already. Two of them have their partners now. Thank God that when we texted them that we want to see them, they did not hesitate to see us too. So when we met each other, we are so happy and give them an encouragement to go back in serving and worshipping the Lord. Praise God that their hearts are still open for the entrance of the Holy Spirit and the truth they've learned are still fresh in their minds and they never forget. They told us that they really wanted to go back to the Lord for they knew that the time is very short and Jesus is at hand. I hope and pray that God will continue to work in the hearts of these people and make a way for them that they may obey Him. Please pray for them.
On Friday, we went to ____ to meet other brethren there who will also attend the gatherings. They came from towns from ____ province. And with them, we proceed to the actual place of fellowship in ____. It was a happy feeling and gives us strength and encouragement to meet and see once again our brothers and sisters in the ____ region and be a part of their fellowship. And you know brother Bob, it's a season of fruits there, especially your favorite Durian!! (Editor’s Note: No Way!! Ha ha.) Thank God for His abundant blessings.
On our way back home, we just ride on a boat. It takes 3 days for us on a boat and in the midst of the sea, and then a 10 hours long travel in a bus going back here. We arrived here last friday. A very tiring but blessed trip for the Lord. Praise the Lord for the safe travel and for the protection.
Brother Bob, last July we held in our camp site in ____ a one week youth camp. In this youth camp, we not only taught the young people the principles of truth in theory but also in practice and a lot of practical lessons that they may use in their living while waiting for the Lord. They learned the actual lessons in agriculture, in bread making, cooking and other household chores, and honed their talent in preaching, singing and in using musical instruments. We also bring them in doing house to house work and giving and distributing tracts. We distributed several boxes of tracts that we printed to several barangays and towns. Some òf them testify how happy are the feelings when you were sharing the truths to others. These young people feel so blessed and happy through this experience and are requesting for another youth camp.
Brother Bob, I want to let you know that I have sent several boxes of tracts to ____ and other places too and will be sending more. Our sister in ____ told me that they already started giving out those tracts to their area and nearbys.
Also brother Bob, it is a sad news that our missionary car gave up already. We can't use it anymore because it is really broken and need a whole body repair (Editor’s Note: about $2,500 USD needed). It is really a great help for our work because we can go easily to those places where we can share the truth and we use it for the fast distribution of tracts to other places when we were accompanied by other brethren. We also use it when we pick up people who wants to worship every Sabbath and especially during our large gatherings like fellowship, camp meeting and youth camp. This missionary car is very functional and a great help in the work of the Lord. So please help us pray that God will help us provide for its repair....

Christian greetings from Uganda. The Apostle says we like beasts are haunted on every side by both the seen and unseen agencies to the progress of the gospel, but nay we have the blessed Saviour navigating through to the glory of His name.
I have been invited to Kenya ____ metropolis for a camp meeting starting on 17th August 2024. It is joint camp meeting. There was a massive break from the main church structure and they still want to carry like the mother making a Church within a Church. They read their lessons, have worship services like SDA, they want to compete be like or better in worldly attainments. There may be great need to help them understand the principles of separation and some doctrinal mishaps.
Brethren, our work is solemnly momentous, involving weal or woe to thousands; we deal with souls for God on eternal business, and our word is either a savour of life unto life, or of death unto death. A very heavy responsibility rests upon us, and it will be no small mercy if at the last we be found clear of the blood of all men. As officers in Christ's army, we are the especial mark of the enmity of men and devils; they watch for our halting, and labour to take us by the heels. Our sacred calling involves us in temptations from which others are exempt, above all it too often draws us away from our personal enjoyment of truth into a ministerial and official consideration of it. We meet with many naughty cases, and our wits are at a end; plus we observe very sad backslidings, and our hearts are wounded; we see millions perishing, and our spirits sink. We wish to profit you by our preaching; we desire to be a blessing to your children; we long to be useful both to saints and sinners; therefore, dear friends, intercede for us with our God. Miserable men are we if we miss the aid of your prayers, but happy are we if we live in your supplications. That Christ may be glorified. Thanks in advance.

He said he thought it (was) bias, but after reading through twice realized that it was the truth, and (that) his Church – the Roman Catholic – was false. I have been speaking to brother ____, it was a good discussion. He has told me that they are just coming from a camp meeting for SDA main stream, and he says the church has lost direction and him and others are not willing to go back. Henceforth they are requesting for more materials to understand separation message. Then I told him that am the one who took those booklets in his place to distribute, he was so happy. Moreover, I also told him about the upcoming camp meeting which we commerce on Sunday here in ____, he says he is very much willing to come and attend so that he gets more information about separation and old land marks.
For these souls who are hungering for the truth which your ministry had produced for many years, am again requesting for support so that we reprint more booklets from your ministry and buy them KJV Bibles, SOP books - like Conflict Series. The three months where busy for the preparation and actual camp meeting for us in ____. The structures and sites were completed well using the natural trees and grass we have at the very sight. Contributions money came up according to the blessings the Lord gave us. This was used to purchase food, fuel and electricity materials and other few items as well as costs for hiring transport....
Praise God we had visitors from two neighboring countries, Namibia and Zimbabwe and from within the country, but in different provinces. We had over 12 visitors. The loving Lord gave us very good presenters and lessons that revived us and made many of the brethren who were almost taken away from the new winds of messages (to come back to) the really truth (Galatians 1:6-8).
Praise God after this camp meeting we had over 10 souls who got baptized. Elder Bob, even when we have many souls that are coming to the true message...May the Lord help us. The ground is ready for the truth but no materials for them. As I wait for the coming support this month end may the Lord bless those who can support this works so that you send enough for this works too. God bless.

I was very delighted to receive this latest newsletter from you. I enjoyed studying it and took note of the fact that the Spirit of the Lord is surely moving upon His people. We are one month old on our new home now and I think we are settled....
I hope you are doing well in America. We are now looking forward to receiving the first rains for this summer, but we have a lot of work to open up fields for the cropping season.
