TO  LOVE  THE  LORD  THY  GOD  -  Spiritually,  Part  22  quotes

1)     The Emotion of Love Dealing With Fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ

Jesus Christ commands each of His followers to love one another.

“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.  By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” John 13:34-35.

2)    What Form of Love?

The only correct definition of love is that which is found in God’s holy word of truth.

“God is love”. 1 John 4:8.

“The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” Jeremiah 31:3.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.

God the Father's love is not a shallow form or a hollow shell, but is a love that is rich and true and full of substance!

3)   As God is love, and Jesus Christ is the Son of God, then the kind of love that Christ is and has manifested towards each one of us is also not a shallow form or a hollow shell, but it is also a love that is rich and true and full of substance!

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.  Ye are my friends”. John 15:13-14.

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?...Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” Romans 8:35, 37.

4)   As both God the Father and the Lord God Jesus Christ have manifested a love that is rich and true and full of substance, then since God the Holy Spirit is so closely united with Them both, then He also loves us with the same Godly form of love!

“Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me”. Romans 15:30.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love...” Galatians 5:22.

5)   What form of love are human beings to reveal towards our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ?

“Let love be without dissimulation.” Romans 12:9.

“But in all things approving ourselves...by love unfeigned”. 2 Corinthians 6:4, 6.

The Greek word used in these verses for “dissimulation” as well as for “unfeigned” is “anupokritos”, and it translates and means “undissembled, sincere, without hypocrisy” (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance, word #505).

6)   If we do not truly love one another as the Godhead loves us, then our lives will be in harmony with and under the control of Satan, and we will be lost along with him!

“In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.  For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another....We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren.  He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.  Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him....
“If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?  And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.” 1 John 3:10-11, 14-15, 4:20-21.

7)   How to have and manifest Godly love for Each Other?

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7.

“Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.  But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.” Ephesians 5:1-4.

“That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.  And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.  For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ. As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.  Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.  For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.  And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ”. Colossians 2:2-11.

“And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.” 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13.

“I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts; and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.” Hebrews 8:10.

“I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.” Psalms 40:8.

“By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.” 1 John 5:2.

“Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26.

8)   We must honestly be daily converted unto God in order to have this true form of love and to do God’s will!

     “I die daily.” 1 Corinthians 15:31.

“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” Luke 9:23.

9)   When self is fully crucified, then our faulty human ideas of how to love one another will be overcome, and we will indeed be able to truly and sincerely love one another as God and Christ and the Holy Spirit loves us!

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.  And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.” Galatians 5:22-24.

The very first fruit of the Spirit is love!  So if you have and manifest this true, Godly, sincere, and fervent love for each of your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, then this shows that you are indeed filled with God the Holy Spirit, and not with the Devil.  But if self is not dead in your heart, then it will prevent you from being able to truly and sincerely love your fellow brothers and sisters as God, Christ and the Spirit loves you.

10)   There is no other way for you to obtain this true Godly form of sincere love in your heart, except through the Holy Spirit being in you!

“...the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” Romans 5:5.

“That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” Ephesians 3:16-21.

“Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” 1 Peter 1:22-23.

11)   If we are indeed the children of God, the followers of Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit then our love for each and every one of our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ be also rich and true and full of substance, and not shallow, hollow, fake or hypocritical!

“Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.” Song Of Solomon 8:7.

“Charity [true love] suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.  Charity never faileth”. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.

“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.  He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” 1 John 4:7-8.

12)   Let us, in the grace and strength of God, prove that our love for one another is real and sincere.

“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” 1 John 3:18.

“Therefore, as ye abound in every thing...prove the sincerity of your love.” 2 Corinthians 8:7-8.
