TO  LOVE  THE  LORD  THY  GOD  quotes

1)     “And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” Deuteronomy 6:5.

“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind...and with all thy strength”. Matthew 22:37, Mark 12:30.

2)    But we have not done loved the Lord thy God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength!

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. Romans 3:23.

“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” Isaiah 64:6.

3)   It is impossible to love both God - the Author of righteousness, and Lucifer  - the author of sin at the same time!

“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.” Matthew 6:24.

We all must ask ourselves: Am I willing to love God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength?  Or do I love the Devil more?  Once we make this decision, then we must act on it!

“A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” James 1:8.

“Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.  O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.  A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.” Matthew 12:33-35.

"How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him." 1 Kings 18:21.

"And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose ye this day whom ye will serve". Joshua 24:15.

4)    Your refusal to decide forever between loving the Lord or Satan is actually a refusal to love the Lord by default.

“I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.  So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” Revelation 3:15-16.

If you are spued out, then you are not directly connected with Jesus Christ, and thus you cannot be saved!

“Abide in me, and I in you.  As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.  If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.” John 15:4-6.

“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” 1 John 5:11-12.

5)   What must we do in order to now begin loving and serving the Lord God with our entire undivided heart, soul, mind and strength?

When the children of Israel were living in disobedience and apostasy and were not truly loving the Lord God, but instead were rebelliously loving strange gods, they abandoned God’s Sanctuary and boarded up the entrance doors into His Temple (see 2 Chronicles 28:24).  Some rebellious Israelites even went so far into wickedness as to bring idols of false gods directly into God’s Temple and were content to allow them to remain there (see 2 Chronicles 34:4-7)!  As a result, God’s Temple became corrupted and impure, it fell into great disrepair, and thus was totally unfit for the holy Lord God to personally dwell in or for them to love, serve and worship Him.
After many years of living in sin and wickedness, the Israelites became so tired of serving these strange gods and enduring through all the problems caused by their course of rebellion and apostasy, that they finally came to their senses and decided to begin loving only the Lord God of heaven.  Having made this important life-saving decision to begin loving only the Lord God, what did they then have to do next?

“Hezekiah began to reign when he was five and twenty years old...And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD....He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the LORD, and repaired them.  And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the east street, And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the LORD God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.  For our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of the LORD, and turned their backs.  Also they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the holy place unto the God of Israel.  Wherefore the wrath of the LORD was upon Judah and Jerusalem, and he hath delivered them to trouble, to astonishment, and to hissing, as ye see with your eyes.  For, lo, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.  Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.  My sons, be not now negligent: for the LORD hath chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense.
“Then the Levites arose...And they gathered their brethren, and sanctified themselves, and came, according to the commandment of the king, by the words of the LORD, to cleanse the house of the LORD.  And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the LORD, to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the LORD into the court of the house of the LORD.  And the Levites took it, to carry it out abroad into the brook Kidron.
“Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of the LORD: so they sanctified the house of the LORD in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.
“Then they went in to Hezekiah the king, and said, We have cleansed all the house of the LORD, and the altar of burnt offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the showbread table, with all the vessels thereof.  Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away in his transgression, have we prepared and sanctified, and, behold, they are before the altar of the LORD.
“Then Hezekiah the king rose early, and gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the house of the LORD.  And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of the LORD....And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded: and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished.  And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves, and worshipped....Then Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated yourselves unto the LORD, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the LORD.  And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt offerings....So the service of the house of the LORD was set in order.  And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people”. 2 Chronicles 29:1-12, 15-21, 28-29, 31, 35-36 (see other times of revival in 2 Chronicles 24:2-13 and 2 Kings 12:2-14).

6)     We also must work earnestly to cleanse our body Temple – mentally, spiritually, and physically, until it is completely cleansed and sanctified and fit for our Lord God to dwell in and we can serve Him!

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.

“...what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial?...And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.  Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” 2 Corinthians 6:14-18, 7:1.

7)    Go to work in earnestly cleansing yourself – mentally, spiritually, and physically, and do not cease doing this important work until your entire body truly becomes a fully cleansed and sanctified Temple that is indeed fit for your holy Lord God to dwell in and for you to love, serve and worship Him in spirit and truth!

“...the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24.

“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord....because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth”. Ephesians 5:8-10; 2 Thessalonians 2:13.

“...love the LORD thy God, and...obey his voice, and...cleave unto him: for he is thy life”. Deuteronomy 30:20.
