WHAT  MOVEMENT  ARE  YOU  IN ?

The angel of Revelation 10 symbolized the Great Advent Awakening which led to the Great Advent Movement.  This great awakening spread throughout the world because of the understanding of the truths contained in the first angel's message.  The Advent truth was designed to awaken the Protestant churches to return to their first love before they would be set aside and others chosen to take their place.  This glorious truth of the first angel's message was rejected by the Protestant churches as a body, thus causing their fall from God's favor to become Babylon fallen.  So the second angel's message followed and united with the first.
Because these Babylonian Protestant churches rejected the Advent Awakening based upon the first angel's message, they could not see any light in the second angel's message and so rejected it as well.  This second angel's message led those who were connected with these fallen churches to separate from and break all connection with them.  Thus the movement of the people embracing the truth and separating out of these fallen churches of Protestantism made up the Great Advent Movement.  These truths took hold of many people, and they rejoiced to be able to follow it, to unite with Christ and with one another, and to spread these truths around the world (see Early Writings, p 245-46).
A new Movement of God's people is always based upon the failure of all which have proceeded it.  There would not have been the necessity of the Advent Movement if the Protestant churches would have accepted and embraced the Advent truth.  Neither would there have been the necessity for the Protestant Reformation Movement if the Catholic church would have accepted and embraced the truths of righteousness by faith.  Neither would there have been the necessity for the Christian Movement if the Jewish church would have accepted and embraced the truth that Christ was the Messiah.
Many do not understand that separation was an indispensable part in all of the Movements of God's people throughout history.  If the Disciples and Apostles would have remained connected with the Jewish Church, the truth about Christ as the Messiah would have been smothered by the false doctrines, apostasy, and corruption existing within that Babylonian harlot church (see Isaiah 1:21; Hosea 2:4; Jeremiah 3:6-8; Ezekiel 16:30-45; Great Controversy, p 381-82; Selected Messages, book 3, p 417), and these followers of God would have been corrupted.  If the Protestant reformers would have remained connected with the Catholic Church, the truth about righteousness by faith would have been extinguished by the false doctrines, apostasy, and corruption existing within that Babylonian harlot church, and these followers of God would also have become corrupted.  So, if the Advent believers would have remained connected with the Protestant churches, the Advent truth would have been quenched by the false doctrines, apostasy, and corruption existing within these Babylonian harlot churches, and these followers of God would also have become corrupted.  Without separation, there would have been no Movement of God's people in history, and the precious truths which once actuated the people of God would have died out!  This same principle is also valid for today!
The SDA church arose to continue the Great Advent Movement, and was founded upon the truths of the three angels' messages.  God raised this church up to herald these truths around the world, and thus hasten the coming of Christ and the end of this great controversy.  But this church gradually allowed apostasy and corruption to sweep through the entire system, and the church became an harlot (see Testimonies, vol 8, p 250).  She was in danger of failing her mission, being set aside by God, and another people chosen to finish the work (see Upward Look, p 131).  To avoid this real possibility, God sent the glorious message of the righteousness of Christ.  This message was designed to awaken the SDA church and bring her back to God's loving side as a faithful bride once again, and then to herald this precious saving message to the world.  But the church rejected this glorious message (see Selected Messages, book 1, p 234-35; Testimonies to Ministers, p 467-68)--just like the Protestant churches rejected the first angel's message.  And in continuing to reject this precious message, the SDA church has become Babylon fallen--just like the apostate churches before her.  Thus the SDA church has failed in her mission, and God is raising up and choosing others to continue on in spreading this glorious message until the whole earth is filled with the glory of God (see Testimonies to Ministers, p 300).
Many SDA's understand that their church is in apostasy, has become corrupt and an harlot, and some realize that she will not herald the truths of the three angel's to the world because she has rejected all these truths (need proof? write for the booklet "Transmutation of the Three Angels").  And these people also believe that they must still remain with the church and try to live the truth from within the apostasy and corruption.  But what would have happened to the precious truths of the past Movements if those who accepted them would have remained within the apostasy and corruption of their churches?  These truths would have been smothered to death, and those who remained would have been corrupted (see EW 247, 249).  And this same thing is indeed happening to those who choose to remain within their apostate and corrupt church.
Since the SDA church has failed in her mission under the Great Advent Movement, is there to be another new Movement of God's people today?  Is there to be another separation of God's people out of this fallen Babylonian church, as well as all of the other fallen churches?
"`I saw another angel come down from Heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.  And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.'  `And I heard another voice from Heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.' (Revelation 18:1-4)....
"Of Babylon, at this time it is declared, `Her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities' (Revelation 18:5).  She has filled up the measure of her guilt, and destruction is about to fall upon her.  But God still has a people in Babylon; and before the visitation of his judgments, these faithful ones must be called out, that they `partake not of her sins, and receive not of her plagues.'  Hence the movement symbolized by the angel coming down from Heaven, lightening the earth with his glory, and crying mightily with a strong voice, announcing the sins of Babylon.  In connection with his message the call is heard, `Come out of her, my people.'  As these warnings join the third angel's message, it swells to a loud cry."  Spirit of Prophecy, vol 4, p 422 (Great Controversy, p 604).

So the Great Advent Movement is not the last Movement of God listed in the Scriptures!  The angel of Revelation 18 symbolizes another Movement of God's people which takes place under the loud cry message.  Does this sound too hard to believe?  Yet, it is true!  And it was not only Ellen White who prophesied this; James White as well recognized this truth over 100 years ago.
"At the time when the message is proclaimed, `Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come,' [Rev.xiv,7,] the people of God are mingled with this great Babylon.  For another message follows, announcing the fall of Babylon.  These two messages, we believe, have been faithfully proclaimed in the past.  In the eighteenth chapter of Revelation, the message announcing the fall of Babylon is presented again, with additions, showing as we understand, that there is in the future a mighty movement to take place on this subject.  We have no doubt that God has many dear saints united with the various bodies of professed Christians.  These we believe will yet hear the call given in Rev.xviii,4." Review and Herald, vol 5, February 21, 1854, p 37.

This loud cry message of Revelation 18 is the last message of mercy which this world will ever hear (see Upward Look, p 277; Testimonies, vol 6, p 19).  Then this is the last and final Movement of God in these last days before Christ comes!  This fact alone tells us that the SDA church has indeed failed to fulfill her calling and mission given her under the Advent Movement because there is prophesied the necessity for another Movement--not under the control of the first angel, but under the control of the mighty angel of Revelation 18!  Not only has the SDA church rejected the truth of the righteousness of Christ, but they see no light in, and hence reject, the fourth angel's message of separation as well--just as the Protestant churches, Catholic Church, and Jewish Church rejected the separation messages in their day.  And this loud cry message of separation from the SDA Church, as well as all churches, is going forth right now!  Thus this new and Great Last Day Movement of God is already taking shape today!
Some may argue that it is not time to give the loud cry message of Revelation 18 until some time in the future--such as when the Sunday law is passed.  Thus they reason that there is to be no new Movement and no separation of God's people from the SDA church until then.  But is it already time to give this loud cry separation message now--before the Sunday law?
"The message of the angel [Revelation 18] following the third is now to be given to all parts of the world.  It is to be the harvest message, and the whole earth will be lighted with the glory of God." Last Day Events from the Letters and Manuscripts of E.G. White, p 78 (this edition is not the Conference edition).
"All are to hear the last message of warning.  The prophecies in the book of Revelation, chapters 12 to 18, are being fulfilled.  In the eighteenth chapter is recorded the very last call to the churches.  This call is now to be given." Upward Look, p 277.

In fact, it is by giving this separation loud cry message that allows the Sunday law to be passed!
"Today, as in the days of Elijah, the line of demarcation between God's commandment-keeping people and the worshipers of false gods is clearly drawn.  `How long halt ye between two opinions?' Elijah cried; `if the Lord be God, follow Him: but if Baal, then follow him.' 1 Kings 18:21.  And the message for today is: `Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen....Come out of her My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.  For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.' Revelation 18:2,4,5.
"The time is not far distant when the test will come to every soul.  The observance of the false sabbath will be urged upon us." Prophets and Kings, p 187-88.

So the Sunday law does not come until after the message of Revelation 18 begins: not before--but after (see also Spirit of Prophecy, vol 4, p 424-25)!  Thus the time for all of God's faithful and honest SDA people to separate from their apostate, corrupt, harlot church of Babylon is now, not after the Sunday law is passed--but now!  Those who refuse to separate from the church cannot be a part of this Great Last Day Movement of God--even though they may believe the three angels' messages!  This is because by remaining connected with a corrupt church, you are corporately responsible for, and a partaker of, her sins, and you will receive the plagues and lose your soul.
"Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity....My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the Lord." Jeremiah 51:6, 45.

"It is impossible for you to unite with those who are corrupt, and still remain pure.  `What fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? and what concord hath Christ with Belial?'  God and Christ and the heavenly host would have man know that if he unites with the corrupt, he will become corrupt." SDA Bible Commentary, vol 6, p 1102.

Thus this loud cry message of Revelation 18, coupled with the truth that the church is Babylon fallen, is the distinguishing factor between those who serve God and those who do not.  Those who refuse to believe that their church is Babylon fallen and who refuse to separate from her in obedience to the message of the angel of Revelation 18, show themselves not to be of God, and they are classified along with the wicked.
"The Lord is soon to come; there must be a refining, winnowing process in every church, for there are among us wicked men who do not love the truth.  There is need of a transformation of character.  Will the church arise and put on her beautiful garments, the righteousness of Christ?  It is soon to be seen who are vessels unto honor.  `And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.  And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.'  `Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not....'
"Here are brought plainly to view those who will be vessels unto honor; for they will receive the latter rain." Review and Herald, March 19, 1895 (vol 3, p 239).

And who is this mighty angel of Revelation 18?
"I have no specific time of which to speak when the outpouring of the Holy Spirit will take place--when the mighty angel will come down from heaven, and unite with the third angel in closing up the work for this world..." SDA Bible Commentary, vol 7, p 984.

So this mighty angel of Revelation 18 represents the Holy Spirit coming down, or being poured out, from heaven (not that the Holy Spirit is a created angel, but is a messenger of the Lord).  So this new and mighty Movement is under the direction of the Holy Spirit Himself, and the message of the loud cry is the Holy Spirit speaking to you.  This Great Last Day Movement must be joined by you if you will ever receive the latter rain and go to heaven!  For you to refuse to obey this loud cry message of separation from your apostate church and join this Movement, just like the foolish virgins refused to leave their company and join the Movement of the procession (see Christ's Object Lessons, p 406; Review and Herald, vol 3, p 109), means that you reject the Holy Spirit, refuse the latter rain, and thus you will lose your salvation: there will be no second chance.
"The message presented at this time is the last message of mercy for a fallen world.  Those who have the privilege of hearing this message, and who persist in refusing to heed the warning, cast away their last hope of salvation.  There will be no second probation." Testimonies, vol 6, p 19.

     WHAT ARE WE TO DO?

For those who have recognized these vital truths, and have already willingly separated from all the apostate churches--including the SDA church--in obedience to the voice of the Holy Spirit, and thus have joined and become a part of this Great Last Day Movement, WHAT ARE WE TO DO?
Obviously, every person who is a part of this Great Last Day Movement has an important part to act in this Movement.  Each must live, practice, and work to spread this glorious truth so that the earth can be filled with the glory of God and thus hasten the return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
BUT HOW ARE WE TO WORK?  Are we to work as independent atoms from each other?  Are we to do our own thing regardless of how our actions affect our fellow brethren?  Are we each to teach our own doctrine?  Are we each to follow our own mind?  I, for one of many, have seen 10+ years of this above belief of individual independence.  This idea has brought nothing but rebellion, confusion, division, and dissension among our separated people and Movement.  As a result, this Movement is not much farther along in finishing this great work than it was in the beginning!
Revelation 18 does not symbolize 10, 100, 1000, 10,000 or 100,000 different Movements, but only ONE Great Movement.  We are all part of ONE great body with Christ as it's Head to control it through His Holy Spirit.  We must realize this before we ever can finish this work.  Until we recognize that we are all part of ONE, and only one Movement, we will continue to fail the Lord by remaining disunited, disorganized, and full of fighting, bickering, hatred, jealousy, envy, and other evils.  All these above evils can be traced to one area--Laodicean selfishness.
The solemn truth is that most of the separated people in this Great Last Day Movement are NOT part of the Philadelphian church of brotherly love, but their characters show them to be plainly part of the Laodicean church of selfishness!  The main reason why we continue to be disunited is because self is not crucified, but is instead made prominent.  One selfish separated individual refuses to unite with other separated individuals in the same work because he believes his ministry alone will finish the work.  So he reasons: What need is there for unity?  Another selfishly desires to do as he pleases in all areas of his work, even though his actions adversely affects others.  So he reasons: What need is there for unity?  Another declares that all this selfish division among us is really God's will after all.  So they reason: What need is there for unity?  Yet another understands the need for unity, but selfishly refuses to unite and work towards achieving this goal for fear that any type of order and working organization established among us--even the order and organization that God approves of--will develop into a hierarchy.  So he reasons: What need is there for unity?  And there are as many excuses given as the devil has lies as to why there should not be any unity today among God's separated people!  But not one of these endless excuses bears a THUS SAITH THE LORD!
So what need is there for unity?  THUS SAITH THE LORD: "He (Christ) calls for unity, and unity we must have." Manuscript Releases, vol 17, p 291.

THUS SAITH THE LORD: "Man is to obey the word of God declared in the seventeenth chapter of John.  Then of him can be spoken the words, `Ye are complete in Him.'" Manuscript Releases, vol 6, p 331.

So who is calling for all of God's separated people to be united together as one?  Christ is.  Thus any separated Ministry, minister, or lay-person who does not desire, does not actively work for, and does not openly and loudly advocate, unity among all of God's separated people in this Last Day Movement, is not working for Christ whom they profess to follow!  They are knowingly or unknowingly working against Christ because they refuse to obey the Lord's command.  Thus they are in sympathy with the devil--even though they may appear as the ministers of righteousness (see 2 Corinthians 11:13-15).
THUS SAITH THE LORD: "It is his (Satan's) studied effort to lead professed Christians just as far from heaven's arrangement as he can; therefore he deceives even the professed people of God and makes them believe that order and discipline are enemies to spirituality; that the only safety for them is to let each pursue his own course, and to remain especially distinct from bodies of Christians who are united and are laboring to establish discipline and harmony of action.  All the efforts made to establish this are considered dangerous, a restriction of rightful liberty, and hence are feared as popery.  These deceived souls consider it a virtue to boast of their freedom to think and act independently.  They will not take any man's say so.  They are amenable to no man.  It was and now is Satan's special work to lead men to feel that it is God's order to strike out for themselves and choose their own order independent of their brethren." Evangelism, p 318.

THUS SAITH THE LORD: "Jesus and holy angels are bringing up and uniting God's people into one faith, that they may all have one mind and one judgment.  And while they are being brought into the unity of the faith, to see eye to eye upon the solemn, important truths for this time, Satan is at work to oppose their advancement.  Jesus is at work through His instruments to gather and unite.  Satan works through his instruments to scatter and divide." Testimonies, vol 1, p 332.

THUS SAITH THE LORD: "Men are taking sides, according to their choice....All that refuse to be taught of God, hold the traditions of men.  They at last pass over on the side of the enemy, against God, and are written, `antichrist.'  The people of God, who understand our position in this world's history, are, with ears open and hearts softened and subdued, pressing together in unity--one with Jesus Christ.  Those who will not practice the lessons of Christ, but keep themselves in hand to mold themselves, find in antichrist the center of their union." Series A#9, p 55-56.

Another belief which is strong among the separated brethren is that the only thing which matters to God is that we are united individually with Christ, and thus in Christ we all are instantly united together.  Thus these people reason: What need is there for a visible unity among us?--let division, dis-union, and selfish independence continue to be manifested, because in Christ we are spiritually united with each other.
Brethren do not be deceived--this belief is not the truth, but a devious and specious lie.  Why can I say this with utmost assurance?  THUS SAITH THE LORD: "What is seen by the world in the present, dis-union and want of harmony among those who claim to believe the truth?  That this people cannot be of God for they are working against each other.
"If we would be one with Christ, we must first be one with each other.  Those who are not yoked up with Christ always pull the wrong way." Manuscript Releases, vol 20, p 319.

Please read this above quote again and again and let it be memorized.  "If we would be one with Christ, WE MUST FIRST BE ONE WITH EACH OTHER."  Because of our disunity, division, and lack of loving harmony with each other, this above fact speaks with an unmistakably loud, piercing and clear trumpet note of alarm: THAT WE ARE NOT ONE WITH CHRIST!
THUS SAITH THE LORD: "The reason for all division, discord, and difference is found in separation from Christ." Selected Messages, book 1, p 259.

But to some individuals, it does not matter that Christ is longing and praying for unity among His separated people; it does not matter that God is calling for unity; it does not matter that God's prophet declares that we must have unity; all they care about is to have their own independent way.  Thus we have the same spirit of rebellion among us today as was revealed by Korah, Dathan, and Abiram of old.  Instead of wanting to belong to an organized united harmonious body under Christ, His prophet, and with each other, Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, along with all those who followed their rebellion, "wanted individual independence" (see Testimonies, vol 3, p 346)!
Brethren, is Christ divided?  No (1 Corinthians 1:13); Jesus is ONE LORD--not many (Zechariah 14:9; 1 Corinthians 8:6).  Thus everyone in this Great Last Day Movement are to obey this ONE Lord--Jesus Christ, not many lords who choose their own way (Deuteronomy 6:18, 12:8; Judges 17:6; 1 Kings 11:38; Proverbs 12:15, 14:12, 21:2; Hosea 14:9).  Christ has only one body with many harmonious parts, but not many bodies (see 1 Corinthians 12).  And this Great Last Day Movement is also to be only ONE body with many different parts (Romans 12:1-15; Ephesians 4:1-32; Colossians 3:15).  Christ also has only one mind (see Romans 11:34; 1 Corinthians 2:16; Philippians 2:5).  And this Great Last Day Movement is also to have only ONE mind, not many (see Romans 12:16, 15:6; 1 Corinthians 1:10; 2 Corinthians 13:11; Philippians 1:27, 2:2, 4:2; 1 Peter 3:8, 4:1).  Christ is the Author of, and has only one faith, not many conflicting beliefs (see 1 Timothy 1:14; Hebrews 12:2; James 2:1; Revelation 2:13).  Then this Great Last Day Movement is also to have only ONE faith, not many (see 1 Corinthians 1:10; Ephesians 4:5).  And Christ has only one kind of unselfish and self-denying love for His Father and brethren which is perfect (John 14:31, 15:9-12; 21:15-17).  And this Great Last Day Movement is also to have only ONE kind of unselfish and self-denying love for God, Christ, and their separated brethren which is perfect (see Leviticus 19:18; Deuteronomy 6:5; Matthew 22:37-39; John 13:34-35, 14:15-23; 15:9-17; Romans 12:9-10, 13:8-10; 1 Corinthians 2:9; Galatians 5:13; Philippians 2:2; 1 Thessalonians 3:12; Hebrews 13:1; James 2:5; 1 Peter 1:22; 1 John 3:11-23, 4:7-21, 5:2-3; Jude 21).
As the above is abundantly proven and should be clear, then how can any of us still believe that we are to be independent and divided from one another; continue to work separately from one another according to many different and conflicting ways and many different confusing minds; continue to believe and teach many different kinds of faith and doctrines; continue to show or conceal hatred, jealousy, envy, and selfishness towards one another; and yet still claim to be followers of Christ?  Brethren, how hypocritical can we be?
While we remain divided, our Movement remains weak; thus how can we expect to complete our mission to fill this earth with God's glory while our Movement lacks the strength necessary to achieve this goal?
"Press together, press together!  In union there is strength and victory; in discord and division there is weakness and defeat." Testimonies, vol 5, p 488.

Who among us will unselfishly come up to the help of the Lord, to the help of the Lord against the mighty?  For this we need the united strength of all in order to make a successful assault against the devil and his kingdom of Babylon!  Those who will offer themselves willingly to the Lord to be in full and complete unity with their separated brethren, will be able to avoid the curse of Meroz and will be in a condition to receive the "water" or rain which the "heavens dropped" (see Judges 5:2, 4).  But those who refuse to offer themselves willingly to the Lord and who refuse to unite themselves with their separated brethren, will not receive the latter rain dropped from heaven and will receive the curse of Meroz "because they came not to the help of the Lord, to the help of the Lord against the mighty" (Judges 5:23).  May we all think very seriously and carefully about this issue of unity, because our eternal destiny hangs in the balance!
I sincerely pray that God will work a mighty miracle upon each and every stony heart among us to help us to see ourselves as we really are.  May God help us to realize that we are all part of the same body, and that together we make up the Great Last Day Movement of God--the last Movement of God this world will ever see.  May we determine to humble ourselves and give God our hearts and have all this Laodicean selfishness, and evil traits subdued and washed away from us so that we can truly love one another as we should and be of the Philadelphian church--the church of Brotherly Love.  May our God help us to unite together as one, having one faith, one mind, one judgment, and one purpose, and thus find the strength to fulfill our great and important mission--lighting this world with the glory of God.  And may our God help us to put on the beautiful garments of Christ's righteousness, arise as one person, and harmoniously shine forth the truth and uplift our blessed Saviour to all the world so that His coming can be hastened and we can go home.
"The proclamation of the gospel was to be world-wide in its extent, and the messengers of the cross could not hope to fulfill their important mission unless they should remain united in the bonds of Christian unity..." Acts of the Apostles, p 90.

"...those who do not learn to live in harmony here will never be united in heaven." Historical Sketches, p 124.

"If God's people will give themselves wholly to Him, he will restore to them the power they have lost by division.  May God help us all to realize that disunion is weakness and that union is strength." Selected Messages, book 1, p 85.
