The Battle Over the Name “Seventh-day Adventist”
–part 2: Ownership of the Name

Many of our dear brothers and sisters have been taught that they must continue to cling to the name “Seventh-day Adventist” after they have chosen to completely disconnect themselves from the SDA church denomination.  Even though Bible and Spirit of Prophecy evidence has already been given showing that we are in a new Movement, that it is God’s will for His people to distinguish themselves in name from past churches of apostasy, and that God will call His servants today by a different name, yet many may still be confused.  It is for their sakes that we will now address the next major objection raised against calling ourselves “Seventh-day Remnant” instead of “Seventh-day Adventist”.

The second major objection to calling ourselves by a different name other than “Seventh-day Adventist” is because many have been taught that the name “Seventh-day Adventist” was not given to an organization or denomination, but was only given to individual believers who must identify themselves by this literal name to the end.
But when one searches through the Bible or the Spirit of Prophecy for such a statement clearly upholding this belief, not a single inspired reference can be found!  As there is no clear inspired backing for this belief, then let us turn our attention as to how the name “Seventh-day Adventist” came to be chosen and to whom it was given.
When you examine the history surrounding this name, you will discover that before the year 1860, the Advent people were not generally identified by any one particular name.  It was not until there was a need for property and assets to be legally held by a church denomination, instead of having it owned by private individuals of the church, that the issue of a name came to the forefront and discussion ensued.  In this way the name “Seventh-day Adventist” was finally chosen to represent, not just single individuals who believed the Advent truth, but the name was chosen to represent a legally recognized and registered Corporation, as well as all who had chosen to join with this church denomination by organizing their home churches under this name.

To help in understanding this more clearly, I humbly submit the following from J.N. Andrews about this issue of the “Seventh-day Adventist” name, from a perspective of before, during, and after its discussion and adoption:
“As the message advanced, and the number of laborers constantly increased, the Lord in his providence, as we have seen, led us to an effective Bible plan for the sustenance of the ministry.  With the increase in numbers came a demand for, and increase in, facilities for printing and publishing the truth, and a corresponding accumulation of property at the Review and Herald Office.  That branch of the work started in July, 1849, by Elder James White, printing the first number of a paper, The Present Truth, with money earned mowing grass, had grown until now there were several thousand invested in the business.  It became needful for some one to take the responsibility of this in the initiative.  As the business had grown under Elder White's judicious management, the plant and good-will of the business was legally his.  But he did not wish it so understood.  He called it "the property of the church."  In this position was an illustration of the principle expressed in the text at the head of this chapter, "All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient."  He desired to place the matter in the hands of the church, but the church was not in a condition to legally hold property.  This brought us, as a people, to a point where we again recognized that something was "wanting."  To make a move by virtue of which the church could receive and lawfully hold its real estate and other property, was a third step in the matter of order.
“In the Review and Herald of Feb. 23, 1860, Elder James White, in an article on this subject said: "We hope, however, that the time is not far distant when this people will be in that position necessary to be able to get church property insured, hold their meeting-houses in a proper manner, that those persons making wills, and desiring to do so, can appropriate a portion to the publishing department....We call on preachers and leading brethren to give the matter their attention.  If any object to our suggestions, will they please write out a plan on which we as a people can act."
“In the Review of March 8, 1860, under the head of "legal organization," the writer made the following statement in response to Elder White's request: "What I understand is necessary to remedy all the defects in this matter, is to organize in such a manner that we can hold church property legally.  Then the property could be held in the name of the church."  Money could be borrowed in the same way, and no one individual would have to take a burden upon himself which he ought not to bear....
“From Sept. 28 to Oct. 1, 1860, there was a general meeting of our people from Michigan and adjoining States, held in Battle Creek.  At this time there was a full and free discussion, and a careful consideration of the subject of legal organization for the purpose of holding the office of publication and other church property, - meeting-houses, etc.  As the result of these deliberations it was voted unanimously to legally organize a publishing association, and a committee of five was elected by those assembled, that such a corporation might be formed as soon as practicable.
“As soon as a move should be made to organize, a name would need to be taken for the corporation.  This, therefore, led to a consideration of the name by which we should be known.  Some were in favor of the name "Church of God."  This was objected to on the ground that it gave none of distinctive features of our faith, while the name "Seventh-day Adventist" would not only set forth our faith in the near coming of Christ, but would also show that we are observers of the seventh-day Sabbath.  When this matter was put to vote, only one person voted against the name "Seventh-day Adventist," and he shortly after decided in favor of it.
“The Seventh-day Adventist Publishing Association was organized May 3, 1861.  This was the first of the various legal organizations formed by this people.  The formation of such corporation was point number three in establishing, in God's opening providence, the "order and system" of managing the work of the third angel's message.  All can now see the necessity for such corporations, and may wonder that it was not always seen by us.  But let none lose the practical lesson contained in this case.  While we should most earnestly seek the Lord for divine guidance, we must remember that as he works in us as his instruments, we too have a work to do.  We are not to expect him to do what he has left for us to do and what he "works in us to do."...
“The summer of 1861 was not only important because of the "Civil War" in the United States, but many important moves were being considered in connection with the cause of truth.  So important were the times that a second general gathering of our people that year was held in October.  On the sixth day of the month the Michigan Conference was organized by the election of a chairman, a secretary, and executive committee of three.  By vote the conference recommended that the churches organize, adopting the following as a church covenant: "We, the undersigned, hereby associate ourselves together as a church, taking the name Seventh-day Adventists, covenanting to keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus Christ."  A committee was appointed to prepare an address formulating plans for organizing churches.  This address appeared in the Review of Oct. 15, 1861.”  J.N. Andrews, “The Church, It’s Organization, Order and Discipline”, p 109-113, 124.

Also I have placed at the end of this study several more articles dealing with this very issue of the name “Seventh-day Adventist” being connected in the corporate setting (see Appendix A).

As was pointed out, before a home church of individual Advent believers could be considered “Seventh-day Adventist” they all had to agree to organize their home church into one body of believers, taking the name “Seventh-day Adventist” as their church name, and adopting a covenant agreement.  So the name “Seventh-day Adventist” was chosen to represent the name of a legal organization and State recognized and registered Corporation, as well as to represent the corporate body of believers who had chosen to join themselves in worshiping together as part of this organized denomination.  Thus the belief that the name “Seventh-day Adventist” was not given to a organization or denomination is not according to the history surrounding this name.  History is clear that this name was not given to represent individual believers outside of the SDA church denomination, but was chosen to represent both the organization as well as the individuals who had united themselves with it.
Ellen White recognized the above history of what had taken place regarding the name “Seventh-day Adventist”, and she states in the following testimony:
“As our numbers increased it was evident that without some form of organization there would be great confusion, and the work would not be carried forward successfully. To provide for the support of the ministry, for carrying the work in new fields, for protecting both the churches and the ministry from unworthy members, for holding church property, for the publication of the truth through the press, and for many other objects, organization was indispensable.” Testimonies to Ministers, p 26.

Hence the belief that the name “Seventh-day Adventist” was not given to an organization or denomination but only to individual Advent believers, is found not to be backed up by either inspiration or history.  It is clear from history that the name was given to an organization, as well as to the people who chose to unite themselves in church capacity with this denomination.  It was not given to those individual  believers who were outside of the denomination–even if they chose to keep the same Advent faith!
Thus the name “Seventh-day Adventist” is a name given to a corporate body of people, and was not given to single individuals who would choose to be outside of that corporate body.
Do you today, as an individual believer who is connected with the SDA church, have the right to call yourself “Seventh-day Adventist”?  Yes.  Do you have the right to call yourself “Seventh-day Adventist” even though you have no membership in, or connection to, the SDA church?  I see no reason why you cannot do so if you wish yourself to be viewed as being connected with that corrupt church.  But while it is one thing to say you have the freedom to call yourself “Seventh-day Adventist”, it is a completely different matter to declare that it is a command of God that you must call yourself “Seventh-day Adventist”–especially if you have no connection or membership in that apostate church!  But this is exactly the position many are taking.

So who is correct in this issue?  The extremists over this name, or what history has revealed?  Does the name “Seventh-day Adventist” belong only to individual believers, or does it also belong to the organized structure of Adventism, including all its institutions, etc.?  Let us allow God to answer this question.
“The banner of the third angel has inscribed upon it, ‘The commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.’ Our institutions have taken a name [SDA] which sets forth the character of our faith, and of this name we are never to be ashamed. I have been shown that this name means much, and in adopting it we have followed the light given us from heaven. Let us hear what the Lord saith, [Ex. 31:12-13, 17, quoted].” Manuscript Releases, vol 13, p 68.

What did inspiration declare?  Inspiration clearly stated that the name “Seventh-day Adventist” does indeed belong to the institutions of the church, and hence to the SDA corporate structure.  Thus no one can advocate in truth that the apostate SDA denomination cannot use, or be identified by, the name “Seventh-day Adventist”, believing that only the true and faithful believers have the right to use this name.

What many are doing is making the issue of the “Seventh-day Adventist” name into an extreme position which is unfounded by either the Bible or the Spirit of Prophecy!  Many have made this name “Seventh-day Adventist” into an idol that they would be willing to go to jail for, or even to die for, believing that they will lose salvation if they give up this name.  In doing this they have made this name issue into a test of salvation, when neither God nor the Spirit of Prophecy has ever endorsed it as such!  Dear ones, let us get our eyes off from being fixed upon a literal name, and look to the fact that it is character which God is concerned with in regards to our salvation.
“We are not saved as a sect; no denominational name has any virtue to bring us into favor with God. We are saved individually as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.” Review and Herald, February 10, 1891.

All of God’s followers are saved individually as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ–period!  “No denominational name has any virtue to bring us into favor with God”.  One of the meanings of virtue is: “the practice of moral duties.”  So, in other words, if we did, or if we did not, practice or perform the supposed duty of identifying ourselves as “Seventh-day Adventist”, IT WOULD NOT MATTER WITH GOD, because “no denominational name”–which would include SDA–“has any virtue” with God in regard to our salvation.  Why is this?
“Not by its name, but by its fruit, is the value of a tree determined.  If the fruit is worthless, the name cannot save the tree from destruction.  John declared to the Jews that their standing before God was to be decided by their character and life.  Profession was worthless.  If their life and character were not in harmony with God’s law, they were not His people.” Desire of Ages, p 107.

Our salvation is to be decided solely upon whether our life and character has been in harmony with God’s law or not!  Thus our salvation is not to be decided upon what literal church name we call, or do not identify, ourselves by!  That is why the Remnant of Revelation 12:17 and 14:12 are identified in Scripture by their character.  “Here are they”...... that are called “Seventh-day Adventist”?  NO!  But here are they “which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ”, “and the faith of Jesus.”
To those who have chosen to completely separate themselves from having any connection with the apostate and corrupt SDA church, and who may still believe that it is God’s will that they must identify themselves as “Seventh-day Adventist”, I urge you to take the Great Controversy, and carefully pay attention to each word of the last 7 chapters.  These chapters clearly reveal everything regarding God’s people through all the final conflict; through the time of the loud cry, the Sunday law, the death decree and all other events which take place in the closing scenes before Christ comes again.  During all this period of time, never once will you find sister White identifying God’s true people by the literal name of “Seventh-day Adventist”, or by any other literal church name for that matter.  But you will find her clearly identifying God’s true people by their faith, their actions, and their character.  It is our character which identifies ourselves as God’s chosen followers, and not by what literal church name we may call ourselves by!
With this in mind, we are “Israelites”; we are “Christians”; we are “Protestants”; we are “Seventh-day Adventists”, not because we are commanded today to literally call ourselves by these names, but because we show and manifest the truths connected with these once chosen churches and Movements of the past through our character.  We believe in God as our Creator, who established the plan of Redemption and symbolized it through the Sanctuary services; we believe in Jesus Christ as our Messiah and High Priest; we believe in righteousness by faith and that the Catholic church is anti-Christian as well as the whore of Babylon; and we believe in keeping all of God’s commandments, following the testimony of Jesus (the Spirit of Prophecy), and exemplifying the faith of Jesus in our lives!  Thus it is by our character that we are shown to be true spiritual Israelites, Christians, Protestants, and Seventh-day Adventists, and not because we are commanded to call ourselves by these literal names.

Did you know that Paul was a true Adventist? (see Spirit of Prophecy, vol 3, p 389). Did he ever literally claim that he was a “Seventh-day Adventist”?  No, but he lived the life and preached the truth which showed and made him a true SDA.  Same with Enoch (see Signs of the Times, October 12, 1904).  He never claimed to be a “Seventh-day Adventist”, but his life and teaching proved beyond a doubt that he was a true Adventist.  And you could say the same about all of God’s true people, including Jesus Christ Himself!  They all were true Seventh-day Adventists, even though they never literally identified themselves such but called themselves by a different church name.  The exact same with us today!
Therefore it should be clear that there is no basis in truth for anyone to believe that all who have completely separated themselves from the fallen SDA church cannot adopt a different church name, such as “Seventh-day Remnant”, believing that if they did so they would be disobeying God.

I sincerely hope and earnestly pray that all can understand that the foundational support given for the belief that the name “Seventh-day Adventist” was only given to individual Advent believers and was not given to the SDA corporate denomination, is not in agreement with the weight of evidence provided by a “Thus saith the Lord” as well as history.
This article was written not to cast down, or to needlessly cause any embarrassment or pain to, anyone who chooses to call themselves “Seventh-day Adventist” and thereby be identified with this apostate and corrupt church.  But to show all those who have  completely disconnected themselves from this Babylonian church that there is no command from God, nor is there any directive from the Spirit of Prophecy, that they must continue to cling to and identify themselves by the name “Seventh-day Adventist”.

Appendix A

“James faced financial problems as the business agent of the publishing house--a concern that had no more in the way of organization than a publishing committee. Steps had been taken in 1855 to transfer the business from the shoulders of James to the church, but the church was without name or organization and, from a business standpoint, was illusive. This left White to carry full business, financial, and administrative responsibility personally.” Ellen G. White Biography: The Early Years, Volume 1 - 1827-1862, p 410.

“Cautiously the conference moved into this highly sensitive area.  Brother Poole feared that to adopt a general name would hurt them as a people. J. B. Frisbie was opposed to a sectarian name but saw the need for some uniformity of the terms by which the body of Sabbathkeepers would be known. Moses Hull thought that the churches in various places might be known as "the church worshiping on the seventh day in such and such places." James White stated that he did not see how they could get along without some name, and they could not hold property without a name. The law was specific on that point.” Ellen G. White Biography: The Early Years, Volume 1 - 1827-1862, p 422.

“Without church organization...the rather loose-knit church was growing more and more unwieldy. Ministers and laymen who had met in Battle Creek in late September, 1860, in response to an invitation signed by four leading brethren and couched in the form of an announcement, set about to form a legal organization to hold the assets and manage the affairs of the publishing work. Out of the meeting came plans for a publishing association--but it could not organize legally until the legislature of the State of Michigan had formulated laws under which they could incorporate. Organizing the publishing work called for the choice of the name Seventh-day Adventists.” Ellen G. White Biography: The Early Years, Volume 1 - 1827-1862, p 445.

“I (brother Bracket) now move that we adopt a name, as we must have a name if we are to organize so as to hold property legally.” Review and Herald, October 23, 1860.

“[M.E. Cornell stated] The commandments of God and the faith of Jesus is a distinguishing feature between us and the other denominations....It looks to me too that the gifts of the church are lost sight of, and are not held in so important a light as they should be, if we give way to so much fear of our becoming Babylon merely by adopting a name. There is confusion in the names already chosen; and if something is not done here, churches will go on choosing different names still. A general name will bring us into unity and not confusion.” Review and Herald, October 23, 1860.

“DEAR BRO. WHITE: The church here [Green Bush Michigan] met May 22, 1861, and organized.  They were unanimous in taking the name, Seventh-day Adventists.  The subject of organization seems so plain, and the step so very necessary, that we do not see how any of God's people can have any objection to it whatever.  We are few in number, but we feel the necessity of striving to overcome all our besetting sins, and to do our whole duty in the fear of the Lord.  We have adopted the plan of systematic benevolence as laid down in the Good Samaritan, No. 5, and it works well.  H.L. RICHMOND, Clerk.” Review and Herald, Sept 24, 1861.

“Bro. A. S. Hutchins writes from South Troy, Vt.: "I am truly thankful that we have the light set before us in so clear and consistent a manner as in the Address of the Battle Creek conference.  If the caution be used that should be in receiving members to church fellowship, God will be glorified, I doubt not in the least, in our covenanting to keep his commandments and the faith of Jesus.  In the cause of our divine Master we are called to labor with men of clean hands and pure hearts.  Let us not then be unequally yoked together, but perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
"Some weeks since the Sabbath-keeping brethren in Irasburgh and Charleston met for organization.  All present were agreed in associating ourselves together as a church, taking the name of Seventh-day Adventists, covenanting to keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.  In this step my mind is greatly relieved, as the church will be freed from some of its clogs, either by humble confessions and hearty repentance from some who have professed to be with us, or by their leaving the church free from their influence.  May the Lord help us not to be of those who draw back unto perdition, but of them that believe to the saving of the soul." Review and Herald, December 24, 1861.

“Resolved, That this conference [Michigan] recommend the following church covenant: We, the undersigned, hereby associate ourselves together as a church, taking the name Seventh-day Adventists, covenanting to keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus Christ. Seconded by Brother Hull. Adopted.” Review and Herald, October 8, 1861.

“At the weekend conference held in Battle Creek in connection with the annual meeting of the Seventh-day Adventist Publishing Association in October, 1861, those who attended hammered out the basis on which local churches could be organized. They proceeded to organize the Battle Creek church and then the Michigan State Conference. Then the following action was taken:
“Resolved, That the first session of the Michigan State Conference of Seventh-day Adventists be held at Monterey, Michigan, October 5-8, 1862.” Review and Herald, Oct. 8, 1861.

“PAGE 210, ORGANIZATION--UP TO THE YEAR 1860 THERE HAD BEEN NO LEGAL OR CHURCH ORGANIZATION AMONG THE SABBATHKEEPING ADVENTISTS.
“THEY HAD NOT EVEN ADOPTED A NAME. THEY SPOKE OF THEMSELVES AS THE "SCATTERED FLOCK," THE "LITTLE REMNANT," OR SOME VARIATION OF SUCH EXPRESSIONS. NOW ELDER WHITE HAD ANNOUNCED THROUGH THE REVIEW THAT HE MUST REFUSE TO CONTINUE TO ASSUME PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR MONEY LENT TO THE REVIEW AND HERALD OFFICE. HE FURTHER EXPRESSED THE HOPE THAT THE TIME MIGHT SOON COME WHEN "THIS PEOPLE WILL BE IN THAT POSITION NECESSARY TO BE ABLE TO GET CHURCH PROPERTY INSURED, HOLD THEIR MEETING HOUSES IN A PROPER MANNER, THAT THOSE PERSONS MAKING THEIR WILLS, AND WISHING TO DO SO, CAN APPROPRIATE A PORTION TO THE PUBLISHING DEPARTMENT." HE CALLED UPON HIS BRETHREN TO MAKE SUGGESTIONS AS TO HOW THIS DESIRE MIGHT BE EFFECTED SO THAT "WE AS A PEOPLE" MIGHT ACT TO SECURE THE ABOVE ADVANTAGES.
“AMONG THE FIRST RESPONSES TO THIS REQUEST WAS ONE FROM THE BROTHER B REFERRED TO IN THIS CONNECTION, IN WHICH HE EXPRESSED HIS CONVICTION THAT IT WOULD BE WRONG TO INCORPORATE AS A RELIGIOUS BODY ACCORDING TO LAW....
“AFTER MUCH DISCUSSION THE MISGIVINGS REGARDING THE PROPRIETY OF LEGALLY ORGANIZING THE PUBLISHING OFFICE WERE LARGELY OVERCOME, AND AT A CONFERENCE HELD IN SEPTEMBER, 1860, THE ADVENT REVIEW PUBLISHING ASSOCIATION WAS FORMED. A FEW MONTHS LATER THE NAME WAS CHANGED TO THE SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST PUBLISHING ASSOCIATION. EVEN AFTER THIS STEP THERE STILL REMAINED WITH SOME A RELUCTANCE TO ENTER INTO CHURCH ORGANIZATION, AND THE SUBJECT CONTINUED TO BE DISCUSSED. HOWEVER, WITH THE LARGE MAJORITY FAVORING ORGANIZATION, THE MOVEMENT PROCEEDED, FIRST BY THE ORGANIZATION OF CHURCHES, THEN OF STATE CONFERENCES, AND, FINALLY IN 1863, OF THE GENERAL CONFERENCE.” Testimonies for the Church, Volume One,  p 715.

“THE SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH WAS ORGANIZED IN 1863 WITH 3,500 MEMBERS, HALF A DOZEN LOCAL CONFERENCES, ABOUT THIRTY MINISTERIAL LABORERS, AND A GENERAL CONFERENCE COMMITTEE OF THREE.” Last Day Events, p 50.

“The "cause" in those days centered largely upon the publishing plant, its staff, and its products. To give the organization that was formed to handle it a name, a term was devised--"Seventh-day Adventists." When church organization was finally attained, the Review plant was all the office the church leaders had. This was to be so for another forty years.” Ellen G. White Biography: The Early Elmshaven Years, Volume 5 - 1900-1905, p 226.

“BRO. J. N. ANDREWS has been laboring with the church in Brookfield [New York] for a few weeks past, setting before them the subject of organization in its true light.  All were convinced of its importance, and entered into it in earnest by laboring faithfully with each other to correct the erring, to reprove faults and remove stumbling-blocks.  The church then organized, taking the name, Seventh-day Adventists, and adopting the covenant recommended in the Review.  Bro. Henry Main was chosen elder, and Bro. Ira Abbey, deacon.  The church now numbers twenty-four members.  Six others made application, but for various reasons their names were postponed till our next meeting for action.  The systematic benevolence plan was then cheerfully entered into, by which we shall raise about $100 annually.” Review and Herald, March 13, 1863.

“Q. - How do you organize your churches and raise funds for your work?
“A. - Our organization is very simple.  A body of believers associate together, taking the name of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of (whatever locality they may be in,) and adopt a covenant "to keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus."  They have no creed but the Bible.  Elders, deacons, and clerks are the officers employed.  A local organization to hold church property is formed the same as in other denominations, according to the laws of the various states.  Next to the churches come the state conferences, embracing all the churches in a state, or other district; next is the General Conference, embracing all the state conferences.  This is the highest body, and its decisions, although only advisory, are generally cheerfully complied with by all the members of the organization.  Tract and missionary societies, and Sabbath schools throughout our denomination, are organized on the same lines, the headquarters of the first being the "International Tract and Missionary Society," at Battle Creek, Mich; that of the second being "The International Sabbath School Association," at Oakland, Cal.” Uriah Smith, “Seventh-day Adventists and Their Work”,  p 10.

“In our church organization, the General Conference, composed of delegates from the different State Conferences, is our highest authority.  This Conference chooses annually, besides the usual officers, a committee of three who have the oversight of the work throughout the entire field.
“Next to this are our several State Conferences, composed of the ministers and delegates from all the churches, in their respective States.  These Conferences also have a committee of three to take the oversight of the work in their several States during the Conference year.
“Next to these stand individual churches, associated together under the following simple covenant: "We, the undersigned, hereby associate ourselves together as a church, taking the name Seventh-day Adventists, covenanting to keep the commandments of God, and faith of Jesus."  The officers of the church are local elders, deacons, and clerk.” James White, Life Incidents, p 300.

MINISTRY NEWS

In this new year of 2007, please do not forget that the devil is working even harder to prevent the spreading of the third and fourth angels' messages.  Especially are his efforts to accomplish this aimed at the Legislative branches of the various Governments around the world--especially here in the US.  We know that the devil will not stop until he accomplishes his evil agenda. And within a short time, it will be considered a crime against humanity to pass out tracts and booklets that preach the truths of God's word!
"The work which the church has failed to do in a time of peace and prosperity she will have to do in a terrible crisis under most discouraging, forbidding circumstances. The warnings that worldly conformity has silenced or withheld must be given under the fiercest opposition from enemies of the faith....This day is just before us. The members of the church will individually be tested and proved. They will be placed in circumstances where they will be forced to bear witness for the truth. Many will be called to speak before councils and in courts of justice, perhaps separately and alone. The experience which would have helped them in this emergency they have neglected to obtain, and their souls are burdened with remorse for wasted opportunities and neglected privileges.
"My brother, my sister, ponder these things, I beseech you. You have each a work to do. Your unfaithfulness and neglect are registered against you in the Ledger of Heaven. You have diminished your powers and lessened your capabilities. You lack the experience and efficiency which you might have had. But before it is forever too late, I urge you to arouse. Delay no longer. The day is almost spent. The westering sun is about sinking forever from your sight. Yet while the blood of Christ is pleading, you may find pardon. Summon every energy of the soul, employ the few remaining hours in earnest labor for God and for your fellow men....Your duty cannot be shifted upon another. No one but yourself can do your work. If you withhold your light, someone must be left in darkness through your neglect....
"Another year of our time to labor has rolled into eternity. Every day we have been associating with men and women who are judgment bound. Each day may have been the dividing line to some soul; someone may have made the decision which shall determine his future destiny. What has been our influence over these fellow travelers? What efforts have we put forth to bring them to Christ?...
"Glorious will be the reward bestowed when the faithful workers are gathered about the throne of God and the Lamb....They have been partakers with Christ of His sufferings, they have been workers together with Him in the plan of redemption, and they are partakers with Him in the joy of beholding souls saved through their instrumentality to praise God through all eternity." Testimonies, vol 5, p 463-464, 466-467.

Dear readers, we now have 25 different tracts on various Bible subjects designed to reach out to the world with the truth as it is found in Jesus.  All of these tracts are available for a suggested donation of only $.08 each.  It is hoped that you will see a need to quickly spread these tracts to all in your community while it is still quite easy and we still have the freedom to do so, lest we be forced to try and spread these truths when our freedoms are removed and it is very hard and difficult to do so!

For those who are not able to have a home church to attend and who miss the benefit of fellowshipping together with others of like faith, there is an on-line home church which meets every Sabbath at 12:00 noon Central Time.  This is a live broadcast of one of our separated Home Churches in Indiana which is pastored by brother Nicholas.  Please feel free to come and fellowship with others of like faith and enjoy the spiritual uplifting experience, and also be able to chat with them after church!  If you would like to fellowship, go to www.RemnantofGod.org/pogmchat.htm.

TO OUR READERS AND SUPPORTERS: Please know that "Let There Be Light" Ministries is not concerned with using your prayers and donations to build itself into a kingdom, but is concerned with getting the Present Truth into the hands of the common people quickly, effectively, and wisely.  Instead of working towards acquiring expensive video and T.V. production equipment, satellite or shortwave facilities, we would rather use the Lord's money in publishing and distributing materials which give the full present truth gospel, as well as supporting many full-time foreign ministers and workers in various countries around the world who have proven themselves to be reliable and stable.  With their monthly support and present truth materials supplied them, these ministers and workers then have the ability to more effectively spread the spoken and printed truth, establish the people in it, and carry this precious truth into the very homes of those who sit in darkness.
We are told: “Much can be done through the medium of the press, but still more can be accomplished if the influence of the labors of the living preacher goes with our publications....The Lord has moved upon men of other tongues and has brought them under the influence of the truth, that they might be qualified to labor in His cause.” 3T 204-205.

This is how the Loud Cry of the third angel will be spread, and is now being spread!  If the Lord impresses you to help in these endeavors, your donations will be greatly appreciated--not just by this Ministry, but by many others as well!  MAY GOD RICHLY BLESS YOU!
“Every opportunity should be improved to extend the truth to other nations.  This will be attended with considerable expense, but expense should in no case hinder the performance of this work.  Means are of value only as they are used to advance the interest of the kingdom of God.  The Lord has lent men means for this very purpose, to use in sending the truth to their fellow men.” 3T 208.

MINISTRY NEEDS

"Let There Be Light" Ministries is devoted to the spreading of the full present truth gospel message worldwide, and has been doing so since 1986.  This Ministry has operating expenses covering the areas of: printing, publishing, and writing of present truth books, booklets, tracts, and other literature; video and audio taping, production, and distribution; supporting several ministers and workers in foreign Countries; mail order--both domestic and foreign; holding meetings--both locally, nationally, and internationally; answering correspondence and questions regarding the message of truth; offering National and International Bible studies; sending free present truth literature to contacts in many poor Countries; etc.
Your gracious prayers and support is greatly appreciated and needed.  Without the Lord's guidance and blessings and without your support, this Ministry could not continue to reach out worldwide with the precious message of Revelation 14:6-12 & 18:1-5.

May our God and Saviour continue to lead and guide all those who have helped this Ministry reach out to souls who sit in darkness with the precious light of gospel truth.  May our supporters remember that they share in each and every soul who has been reached by this Ministry and converted to the Lord and His present truth!

GENERAL FOREIGN MISSION WORK NEEDS

We are currently supporting several workers in many different Countries on a monthly basis.  We check into the economy of each area and supply a base support which is adequate depending on their situation, but not extravagant.  This base support is to ensure that the monthly needs of each worker and family is met for that month so that the worker may devote full time to the ministry work.  In addition to this, we are sending extra materials for evangelism, and money for printing, publishing, holding meetings, traveling, and other necessary areas in spreading the Present Truth in their Country.  And as the work extends, especially will the expenses for evangelism expand.  Whatever you can send to help in this necessary and vital area is greatly appreciated.
The work of spreading God's present truth is not to be limited, but must extend world-wide to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people before our Saviour can come (Matthew 24:14).  What better way of spreading the present truth gospel than by having workers who speak the native language, who reside in that particular Country, who can live and preach the truth, visit the interests in their homes, and spread the printed truth translated into their common language!
"Our publications should be printed in other languages, that foreign nations may be reached.  Much can be done through the medium of the press, but still more can be accomplished if the influence of the living preacher goes with our publications....The Lord has moved upon men of other tongues and has brought them under the influence of the truth, that they might be qualified to labor in His cause." Testimonies, vol 3, p 204-205.

Please financially help us to continue supporting our current ministers and workers on a consistent basis, so that the spreading of the truth will not be interrupted but can quickly lighten this dark world with the glory of God.
"Every opportunity should be improved to extend the truth to other nations.  This will be attended with considerable expense, but expense should in no case hinder the performance of this work.  Means are of value only as they are used to advance the interest of the kingdom of God.  The Lord has lent men means for this very purpose, to use in sending the truth to their fellow men."  Testimonies, vol 3, p 208.

LETTERS to "LET THERE BE LIGHT" Ministries

Dear Br. Bob
I greet you all in the name of our Lord and Saviour, and are overjoyed to be reminded of what happened on the historic meeting we attended in Zambia and meeting brethren from all over.  (The events of) 2006 are vivid in my mind and I beg for your prayers for our home churches in South Africa. Prayers are needed even here.
I am now back in ____ after 2 months in the ____ area. Of our people are still restudying the issue about the name to take in the final stand. My prayer is that each would take a stand for accepting the name of SDR in accordance with the Bible & SOP statements.
Again I am glad to read about work going about in other countries and for those who experience persecution. Read Matthew 5:1,10,11,12.
Br Bob, I have translated "...Christ's Prayer?" and "Gods True Church" the tract. I am in the need of means to finish it and sent it abroad. It is ready to be typed and send...Please support me in this instance for I do not have the means to....
Please Br. Sessler, help me that the message can go forward, for I plan also to visit friends in our neighbouring towns to share with them and distribute tracts around. Without means to travel, opportunities are lost and the work for the remnant are somehow hindered.
Sis ____ are restudying the issue of Oct - Nov 2006 and need our prayers about distinctive name. Please pray for the churches in the ____.
It was good to meet you all after a long time of letters, tracts, etc. Was it since 1996/7 that we started corresponding? For in 1990 I have been baptized in Adventism and in 1996 I have separated, so it must have been about then.
Keep up the good work in the Lord.
Yours in Christ, B.B., South Africa.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I’ve written this letter to you all to strengthen your faith...The end is very near and we need to call the faithful out of the Christian churches of Satan. According to Him (God), He is not working for the churches anymore since 1844 and we should warn everybody of this truth.
“I saw that God has honest children among the nominal Adventists and the fallen churches, and before the plagues shall be poured out, ministers and people will be called out from these churches and will gladly receive the truth. Satan knows this; and before the loud cry of the third angel is given, he raises an excitement in these religious bodies, that those who have rejected the truth may think that God is with them. He hopes to deceive the honest and lead them to think that God is still working for the churches. But the light will shine, and all who are honest will leave the fallen churches, and take their stand with the remnant." {EW 261.1}.
God said that you cannot be a Remnant without leaving these churches. Separation from these churches is necessary if you want to be received by God and be called sons and daughters. Let me put it in simple words, if you don’t come out of these churches, Satan is your god, but if you separate from these churches, the Creator is your God.
“And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." 2 Corinthians 6:16-18.
Dear brothers and sisters, do you remember the end of the 2300 year prophecy and what event happened in heaven? On 1844 Jesus left the holy place to go to the most holy place of the sanctuary to be our high priest and according to God, Satan (appeared to) took over Jesus’ throne to (try and) carry on with God’s work and continue with his deception over the people in the church. Please read carefully!
“Then I beheld Jesus as He was before the Father a High Priest.… And I saw those who rose up with Jesus send up their faith to Jesus in the Holiest, and praying, Father, give us Thy Spirit. Then Jesus would breathe on them the Holy Ghost. In that breath was light, power, and much love, joy, and peace. Then I turned to look at the company who were still bowed before the throne. They did not know that Jesus had left it. Satan appeared to be by the throne, trying to carry on the work of God I saw them look up to the throne, and pray, My Father, give us Thy Spirit. Then Satan would breathe on them an unholy influence. In it there was light and much power, but no sweet love, joy, and peace. Satan's object was to keep them deceived and to draw back and deceive God's children." (LETTER FROM SISTER HARMON, Falmouth Mass., Feb., 15, 1846, Experience and Views, pg: 54-56 (published by General Conference).
My beloved brothers and sisters, it’s time and we don’t have time to lose; the Sunday Law is about to get implemented, so, with prayer to God, I sent you this message to share it to the faithful believers to warn them of the coming danger....
Your Brother in Christ Jesus, R.C. Internet.

CORRESPONDENCE FROM FOREIGN WORKERS

FROM FIJI ISLANDS

(Combination of 2 letters) May I greet you once again in His Wonderful name and may His peace, love, and joy be with you always.
A lot of people receiving our tracts and appreciate it, we are dealing with a lot of people who wants to keep tracts with them and when they finish with it they pass it on to their friends. More people are coming towards us with their questions and queries and we always answer them to the best of our knowledge or from the book itself.
Brother ____ came for a visit last week, we have discussed a lot of things and I sent him back with a lot of books. He is not staying in his village, but he is staying in the bush for a period of two year now. Every Sabbath he receives some people from his village coming home to worship with him. He said that these people are looking for the real truth, I have given him a lot of books included the translated ones to help him. You may recall brother ____'s story when he came out of the SDA Church, he was alone and did not know what to do, he came to the Ministry and I gave him books and encouragement, he is now alright, with some families and friends making up a small home church in the bush.
We have given a lot of tracts to the people and the SDA and a lot of them asking questions.
The SDA is telling the people, now is the time to announce the 1st angels message, but we are telling the people the 4th Angels message. It seems that they are far away from the mark, it is Babylon no wonder that they will be perished with the church.
The work of translation is going well, and house to house visitation is going well too. We have also given a lot of books to the prison Department....
Last month we have been hearing in the news that there will be a Military Coup in Fiji. Fair enough come December we had a Military Coup in Fiji. We are now living under a Military Coup in our country, and our movement is very limited, we are no longer under any democracy rule and the soldiers are everywhere, but the work must go on. For a number of time we have been stopped by the Military and the question asked, "what are we doing"? We explain to them what we are doing and why and we share it with them, the Truth. After that we were not stopped by them anywhere and they allow us to continue with our work.
We have been giving out tracts to the people and also the S.D.A., some of the S.D.A. have asked question and we show them from our books.
One of our neighbour ask my wife who is this man ____? My wife told him it was me. Every time I translate a book I always give a copy to him, he told my wife that the translation is well done and he is working for the Fiji Broadcasting Commission where he is now giving copies to his workmates. He did not know my name because he only know my name as "____" not my full name. We are giving him more copies of the same Booklets and others. Work of translation is going on slowly and house to house visitation is still going on. We will be sending more books to the North though Bro. ____ this including the Spirit of Prophecy and the translated booklets and others.
Dear Brother can you send me some Bible for me to give to the people they have been asking for it.
We thank you for your support and your prayers and may you continue to be a source of blessing to us in all matters.
B.A., Fiji.

FROM KENYA, EAST AFRICA

(Combination of 2 letters) Dear Bro. Bob,
     1 Jn 3:1
Thanks so much for such an encouraging report. Praise to Him who loved us as to give Himself for us.
This last one month going I have in ____. The battle goes tough the day. But am learning to thank Him more for His daily supply of grace.
We need here the following booklets: 12 reasons; The everlasting gospel; Godhead; Abomination stands; The character of God; the Gift of tongues; rapture (tracts); true church....
Thank you for your e-mail (regarding a brother no longer sending support to 3 workers in Kenya who work with us). But it reached me late, when we had shared the support (we had received from your Ministry) equally among us (all the workers). I am left not knowing what we shall do on this. Concerning our brothers, I would say God has His servants in mind all the time. If it would work out we would rather share what is available than without. But let's commit it to God to work it out His way. While we are grateful for the support our brother has accorded us to date, this has come at a time that it is needed most. But I believe, the Lord knowing what is best for us in everything, has better things for us, for all things work for the good of those that love Him. At the same time, the work is now entering a phase that needs more support than before. That God, according to His matchless love, might grant and provide another channel to continue supporting the work here, is my sincere prayer.... (Editor's note: is there one of our readers, or perhaps a home church, that feels impressed to support each month one or more of these 3 workers?  The support is $250 each month for each worker.  If not, please send what you can to help!)
Thank you for the document; it gives us a better ground for understanding (the issue of the name Seventh-day Remnant). However some brethren, including one church-supported worker, are incensed against the name. They have even decided to act separate of us claiming we have apostatized. It is a sorry position but nevertheless it is now beyond help. We commit the rather innocent souls unto the Lord, if peradventure He may succour them. May you remember these poor souls in your prayers....
Thank you and may God bless you and His work.
B.I., Kenya.

Dear Bob,
General Christian greetings in Jesus name. I thank God on remembering our high calling in Christ Jesus. It is a great privilege to be workers together with Christ. I Cor. 3:9. It is my sincere prayer that we may not receive the grace of God in vain.
It has taken me some time to write since for the last three weeks I have been out for the work. Our home churches in ____ Eastern Kenya requested that an elder be sent there to help them establish the lacking things in regards to Titus 1:5-7 and the brethren accepted that I go there for such a ministry. So I have came back home but will soon return till they are established.
They wanted me to go with a bicycle for easy travelling to members and other home churches but I was not able by then. Their place is a semi desert, they receive rains mostly November to December yearly and some years it doesn't rain. For the last five years they have not had enough rain to help them. Travelling is one of the problems there. The main home church is near to the road but the other two are in the interior. One centre is about two hours walk by foot, the other is about 7 - 8 hours walk. They use bicycles (which take) 4 hours cycling. You can't cycle my brother that (long time) and start preaching immediately or listening to the message without starting to doze. There is another fourth centre which is almost impossible to walk to for a bicycle takes more than six hours taking a short cut, but it has a long route by vehicle Kshs. 500/- to and fro fare.
When we were visiting other church members I found we could cycle more than an hour to their homes and those are of one home church. I was using one church member's bicycle. In fact I have never dreamed of a Motorcycle but I was forced to think of it for it can penetrate to all centres carrying another worker of that place. Think brethren of that. It is my request.
Following are their urgent needs as we discussed in their committee:-
     (1) The big volumes of the SOP (Library) and other smaller books.
     (2) A shade (building) and it's ground (property) very necessary. Most of the member are dependant of parents, they cannot donate a piece for church building, but getting a piece is not too much as in our place. Even one thousand dollars can cover those needs.
As it is now raining they have a great problem because there is none who has a house with a room to accommodate twenty people. For now they said they will bear with the situation for they are busy planting and taking care of the plants from birds and wild beasts which destroy the plants, they will be hunting them all through till harvest on January/Feb. From there they will be free almost the whole year to embark on the achievement of their church needs.
To our brethren over there this is our request also.
God bless you. B.N., Kenya.

Dear elder Robert,
This is greetings from ____ in the name of Jesus.
Last Sabbath we conducted baptism at South C church and nine souls were dipped into water in the name of Christ. Beside that ____ city now the Spirit of God is softening the hearts of many of the truth seekers who are seeking how they can do Gods will. Last Sabbath I received three groups of people from three different zones of ____ who joined us. They have vowed to work for Jesus but not for the Babylonish church. Some of these brethren have written to you. Please respond to them and encourage them. I need you to be remembering us in your prayers and may you know ____ if properly worked it will send a great wave into the entire Africa....
The church school which I started here in this slum is doing very well. It has now over 30 pupils and 10 orphans. May you give me advice on how to make it effective for I am requesting if you can assist me to construct a home which can assist these children. It will be a school and orphanage having the name “LET THERE BE LIGHT ORPHANAGE AND SCHOOL”
     May God bless you abundantly
Yours fellow worker, S.N., Kenya.

Dear Elder Bob,
My beloved brother, surely you have sacrifice greatly for the cause of God not only in this country but in the whole world, such that I had no language to express it, but to say thank you, for that love for the perishing souls, that rich current of love that comes directly from throne of God.
Nevertheless brother the work here is so great and the workers are few, furthermore the enemies of the cause are now many, e.g those who hold (to) the...confusion of the Godhead, and those who hold F.T. Write doctrine, that is the last message, and also those who oppose the name SDR. In considering this brother I humbly request you not to cut the wages of the three workers all at once, for in this case the cause of God will suffer greatly. Furthermore the wages of the other workers that are supported by the church now is depending so much on our tithes. It is my request, but not as I will, but let the God will be done. We all pray that Lord may open the way for you and us here, that the word may not be retarded in any way.
Finally as I'm writing this, we have now one week youth seminar, also I have just received a sad news that one of my fellow worker's child has passed away, pray for us. (Editor's Note: Our prayers are with and for you and that sorrowing family). Thank you.
Yours, B.S., Kenya.

Dear Brethren
I thank God with great joy in my heart for His many blessings that He has continued to bestow all through this ending year. Earnestly God has ceaselessly drawn our hearts to Him by many unnumbered ways in His goodness. In the heavenly sanctuary Jesus our High Priest has continued with His all-important ministration. His Spirit has daily worked in His children in the revelation of His truth. Oh, how much we owe Him! How much thankful and trustful we always should be!
Brethren I have felt obliged to write to each one of you before this year closes. I wish to thank God for each one of you for the many things we have done in cooperation with one another in any way being away and independent of our mother church-Seventh day Adventist. Yea, for the commendable honest zeal that has kept our hearts astir in whatever we individually believed to be the third angel’s truth. The efforts, we have together or separately made for the name of Christ are honesty sincere and hence commendable. How sweet a fellowship we have had with some others! How diligent we have been to spread our beliefs via the paper and Internet besides all other avenues! However God has marked His goal for His work and has seen our shortcomings though sincere. He is good and just. He desires to save us from ourselves that He may clothe us with His nature through which He will perfectly accomplish His work....
I have wished to do righteousness with my whole determination but to my dismay my doing has always been short of it (perfection)....While in this agony, God impressed me to study the 1888 message books....As I studied these books prayerfully I was led to know that I needed to be delivered as a common sinner from this evil power (of sin).
In those books I found a specific procedure and condition for deliverance. I followed that and to the glory of God my life was delivered and set free. Peace and joy has now filled my heart. How I rejoice in His salvation! This is a sure thing, more than I can ever fully express verbally. None but them that experience this will even know of this joy.
Brethren God desires to set His people free by the true remedy- the message of justification by faith as given in 1888 and the succeeding years by His messengers. Even today He has His appointed agencies through whom He is working. The power of sin and evil may abound but the sure word is, “The true faith was not to become extinct. God has ever preserved a remnant to serve Him. Adam, Seth, Enoch Methuselah, Noah, Shem in unbroken line had preserved from age to age the precious revelations of His will.” Patriarchs and prophets 125:1. This is true not only for the past generations but for ours too. “In every age there is a new development of truth, a message of God to the people of that generation.” Christ's Object Lessons 127:4. There can be no such a message without a God personally appointed agency or messenger like Noah or John the Baptist. This is so even now, “For His Church in every generation God has special truth and special work” Ibid 78:2. What is God’s will for you and for me today? Deliverance from the power of sin so as to accomplish His purpose in our lives. I thankfully praise God that He has now made this truth real to me. In His mercy He has given me His divine nature and linked me up with His saints by faith.
This wonderful experience has now saved and separated me from my unintelligent zealous efforts and have seen the truth that, “the work of righteousness shall be peace, and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever.” Isaiah 32:17. I would that each of the struggling souls experiences this wonderful gift. This is possible only through God’s own appointment.
Glory to God for His wisdom and might to deliver and keep.
Your Servant, B.P.

FROM PAPUA NEW GUINEA

(Combination of 3 letters) Dear Elder Bob.
Christain greetings from the land of PNG.
Thought for today; “God will work a work in our day that but few anticipate. He will raise up and exalt among us those who are taught rather by the unction of His Spirit than by the outward training of the scientific institution….  God will manifest that He is not dependant on learned, self important mortals.”  Testimony, vol 5, p 80,82.
Early last year I was invited by two couples to run the first evangelistic meeting in their village of ____, ____ District when they eye witnessing some apostasies creeping into SDA organization.  Immediately without delay, they left their position on the floor and moved out to join the Home Church group. And the last month was a second time again to run a week slides evangelism program.
21 Senior members from the conf. church also moved out from the apostate organization, and (they are) heavily involved in self supportive work since last year straight after the first evangelism meeting. The result of their work has been very well as new interested members were converted into the truth and the number increased.
During our meeting week, we took the studies on the end-time prophecies. Peoples reactions shows that they really loved the Lord from their hearts, the true seekers of the present truth, regardless of what denominations they were, all faithfully attend the week program each night and morning.
After the night studies, I was asked to visit the new converts from house to house praying and discussed further on the end-time subjects with them. I’ve been mentioned in the previous newsletter, every camp programs, evangelistic or street preaching new people converts into the truth and accepting the Lord as their personal Saviour.
We are planning another mini-camp early next year for baptism. We need your prayers to uphold the newly converted souls so that they may stand firm and rooted in Christ until His return.
May our good Lord care for His only faithful shepherds as we cooperate in His sound doctrine to lead His flocks safely Home....
We are now organizing and preparing to run the leadership and evangelism training for two weeks that will commence on the 17th of next month. Fifty church leaders and lay preachers from 21 various churches within the Highlands region have been already registered and confirm to attend the class. ____ High School is booked now for using their classrooms and dormitories. This will be our 2nd time to host such training program since we left conference church in early 1994. We are also expecting some leaders from other denominations and conf-church to join us in the class.
I’ve been too busy since early this month compiling the handout notes for the students about the “Art of preaching, Evangelism, Gospel order.” 17 pages of the workshop notes were now compiled and will be handout over to a 50 students during the class. We believe this will be a very important task to teach and train more preachers and leaders to scatter abroad in gospel fields in their own areas in these dark and final hours. We need to follow our Lord’s perfect examples and fulfill His desire.
“When He sent forth the twelve, and afterward the seventy, to proclaim the kingdom of God. He was teaching them their duty to impart to others what He had made known to them for individual labour, to be extended as their numbers increased, and eventually to reach to the uttermost parts of this earth.” AA 32.
“He calls upon the church to take up their appointed duty, holding up the standard of true reform in their own territory, leaving the trained and experience workers to press on into new fields.” 6T. 292.
Gospel fields in some areas of PNG are now open up rapidly. Invitation calls came from different peoples, families, and villages, we don’t have enough workers to respond on such calls. Even in some of the far remote areas we don’t reach out yet. So we need to train more young workers in a smaller level with a limited time and as soon as when they move out into the gospel fields, our Heavenly and Divine Teacher may teaching them fully.  Please remember us in your daily prayers.
Yesterday I received two boxes from the post office. Smaller one containing Josephus’ 2 books, (Thank you very much and warmly appreciated, my brother, you fixed my need). The large box containing ‘The True Church of God” booklets. How about the booklet Bowing to Pope, translated into pidgin? Please let me know, because I badly need those booklets in next months training....
Elder Bob, Thank you very much for your firm support through this year and the past years gone. You are so kind to us. You are investing your resources right into the hearts of the poor souls and I hope not longer you will be surprise to have your rewards from the Lord God Almighty.

I hope you have fully enjoying your blessed evangelism trip to Africa.  When I finished reading your mission report to Africa, just in my mind it seems like watching on a screen.  I shared your mission report to our brethrens in few home churches and we were blessed to hear the wonderful work of the Lord progressing very well on the other side of the land.  We promised to prayer for the work there.
I agreed deep from my heart with the African brethrens signing the covenant under a new name "Seventh-Day Remnant". (Editor's note: Praise God for your stand!)  This name must be adopted sooner around the worldwide wherever our home churches established.
We held a big year ending camp dated 17th - 21st Dec at ____ ground.  Representatives from the 8 different Provinces attend the camp.  It's been a wonderful and marvelous blessings we have been experiencing during the weekdays while the preachers presenting the experience of the Exodus Movement under the main theme "Bound for the Promised Land".  5 new souls went into the water of baptism on the Sabbath evening.
52 lay workers and church leaders had been registered and prepared to attend the leadership and evangelism before the camp begins.  5 hours each in 4 days during the camp we met together for the special sessions which I lead the class.  At the graduation, all the workers and the church leaders promised to scatter abroad sacrificially in the new areas far and near.
Mid of this year our State is preparing for the National election.  From past experiences, we believe that during these political periods major destructions will be accrued such as, destroying roads and bridges, burning down houses, fighting and killing people.  During such time, many Christians will be seriously affected.  Satan gonna win many souls on his side in times of politics.  It is our aim and desire to warn the people with the 3 angels' message before such evil election begins.
After a week rest from the ____ camp, we run another program at home and its a church dedication program.  3 souls baptized on the Sabbath day.  This is the first church dedication in New Year, but last year 2006 we have been dedicating 18 churches in the ____ region alone.  This is a great news because we are not doing the preaching only but building the churches also....
Elder Bob, thank you very much for your best support to move the Lord's work forward in PNG and also other areas of the world.

FROM THE PHILIPPINES

(Combination of 3 letters) Dearest elder Bob,
I pray this email finds you and your family well in the Lord. I am extending my warmest gratitude brother for keeping me help in the work of the Lord here in the Philippines, but I’m very sorry for these delays. I have many travels to and fro, and so I’m not in the good condition physically these past days. A lot of thanks to the Lord that He keeps me safe for all these travels, and wishes and prays that you too there.
For the work of the Lord here, last month, twice I’ve been in ____ province. I have been from the people who have responded to our tracts distributions. So, I’m a making a follow up Bible studies and the schedule was every Monday. We have given them our Tagalog books of the Great Controversy. Two families were attending a Bible studies regularly aside from other visitors from their neighbors who were also listening in the Bible study. As I observe, these people really love Bible truth, they are very happy for our visits. I pray that God may give us fruits for these works.
At last I have made a visit with brother ____ from ____ city to our long time prospected family in ____ city. We met the family of brother ____, a former member of Reform church who went back to the SDA church. As we pray and plan to re-gather the members of Reform in that place for they are now fragmented and know not what to do, that is why brother ____ went back to the SDA church and others were not attending to any religious groups. They are members of SDARCH a separated group from the SDARM who were discouraged since coldness appear among their leaders. Brother ____ told us that he is only trying to share the message of reformation in the SDA church. I told him that he cannot teach the whole truth while inside the apostate SDA church though he reasoned that he just teach reformation like Sabbath and health reform and he is encouraging the members to make a reform individually. I encouraged him in the saying that if we want to share truths to the Catholics we need not to be baptized as a member of the Catholic church and aside from that he cannot share the whole truth because in order to teach the whole truth he should teach separation because the church is now Babylon fallen and we are called to come out that we be not partakers of her sins and receive not of her plagues. We are now working to re-encourage reformation among those separated but fragmented members of the reform church. May God help and bless us in this work.
I am still continuing my work for our brethren in ____ city. I’ve been there last month for further encouragement in the faith in the reformation. I’m happy because they were continuing to extend the truth we have to others especially to their close friends inside the SDA church. I pray that God may bless their work as they share to others the precious truth for this time.
Here in ____, as I continue my house work, though others were gone but was again replacing by others who were also longing for the truths. Again we have at least four new souls who are gathering for Bible studies once a week. They are old age people from the age of 50 to 60 years old. In other places I also have two houses that still open for our visit. I pray God bless this work....
I am very happy for this people who wrote you who want to know about us. Sorry I just opened my email because we have been stormed again and destroys many lives of people and properties, and thank God our electricity was now ok. I am trying to remember that when I was in ____ I met those people and shared a lot to them and have endorse them to visit your web site. In my visit we tried to reconcile some differences for a short time and they were still opened for my visit but because its too far from my area I was not again given a privilege to visit them. Yeah by this month of coming January I will visit them coz I also promised to the brethren in ____ who were the fruits of my labor there that I'm going to visit them....
Again I am very sorry for this delay. We have been stormed again and destroy lives and properties. A super typhoon with 230-240 kph, a strong wind with heavy rain and at the same time with mudflow for about five meters thick from Mayon volcano went down to the people and buried them alive, and in the cities they suffered flood for about four feet deep and you’ll see dead in the streets. Oh a very pitiful situation to the people out there. We suffered less compared to them. I believe that if that calamity was permitted without mercy of God they will be totally erase, but I’m thankful to God that He still showed mercy on them and to us too here in ____....
To my knowledge the storm was now in Vietnam and according to the news there was now fifty casualties died there and destroys also lot of properties as was here.
Many thanks to the Lord for keeping me protected in my travels. I have been twice in ____ to continue the series of study there with the people who wrote us. But I was saddened with their decision because they decided that they cannot accept the Sabbath truth. One of them reasoned based on Romans 14:5-6 that there is no specific day in which we should keep now and declared that we can now choose any day we like to keep. I respected their decision but encouraged them that if they see truth on the Sabbath in the future as they continue studying they should not hesitate to contact us. They also extended their warmest thanks for our effort to share to them the truth that we have. I am praying that they may be blessed with knowledge that before it’s too late they may be awakened and will accept the truth.
I was also been in ____ for our fellowship. Many thanks to the Lord that our old brethren there are still strong in the faith and doing for the spreading of the message of present truth. And here in ____, for my house to house work, I have two families aside from others whom I always visit. Last day I was there and thanks to God there added a youth who wish and want to learn truth of the bible. He informed me that he is a Catholic and praise God he is not prejudice though we differ in faith. May he continue learning and attending our meeting for Bible studies.
Again I am extending my warmest thanks to you brother for prayers and for continued support from your ministry that help me, my ministry and my family. God bless you too, your family and your ministry. Regards to all.
Your brother in Christ, B.H., Philippines.

FROM UGANDA, EAST AFRICA

(Combination of 2 letters) Dear Elder Sessler,
Precious GREETINGS FROM THIS WAY. God's ways are a great challenge that we can not do His work without the Holy Spirit guiding or leading. In the experience of Brother Paul in Acts of the Apostles 16:6.
"When they had gone through out Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Spirit to preach in the word in Asia". He was forbidden to Speak in Asia. The Apostle had traveled on foot for a thousand Kilometer (1000KM). From Dorylum to Troas, The days he took are not mentioned but I believe they were many months before he would get to Troas. God at times may not give us the opportunity to share his word either because the place has already been evangelized or He who is all knowing knows already that we shall not give Him the glory, for we may be unready for such a great mission that is to bring men and women to Christ Jesus and establish them in the truth. I had not known that those men made tremendous sacrifice in taking the gospel to different lands until it has dawned upon me while studying the missionary journeys of the Apostle Paul. The first missionary journeys were short, but the second was great distance covered for the purpose of the Good News. He knew the great commission, he knew how terribly it was not to witness for Christ and the Lord brought a tremendous harvest of souls they established Churches met those of tender hearts, those of tough hearts and those of tormented hearts, but thanks be God they gave their lives to Jesus Christ.
When we made the Journey to Zambia I thought it was a long distance but oh! No, we have long way to go; we have almost made no sacrifice for the Gospel. We have the SUDAN, AND REST OF NORTH AFRICA, which was the very cradle of Christianity has become a land of the sultans, a land of Mosonrets, a land of masjids, oh! What a great way we have before Jesus comes back. In the very heart of Protestantism in USA IN DEARBORN MICHIGAN there are Seven Hundred Thousand Muslims (700,000), here the language of Allah is spoken and besides that the nation of Islam with many African American joining because of racial discrimination, with their charismatic leader Farrakhan made a memorable MARCH/Walk in the very capital of the greatest Protestant nation "USA", Washington with over a million population. The Lord should heal Christianity so that Gospel of love, compassion, relief and understanding hearts is rendered in many lands....
EW 119 "Get ready, Get ready, Get ready, great work must be done for the Remnant. Many of them are dwelling upon little trials". This has been our biggest problem we seem to be dwelling so much on things that belong on this side which are little trials, but may our heavenly Father help us see what staff is our foundation made of. "And we are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief Corner Stone" Ephesians 2:20. Their history is filled up with great trails, they never had the comfort we have today, they never had any salary, I know they were supported but every thing was put into the Gospel and that is reason there were major growth of the Church to lands which today are filled up with mosques....
God's will or way is always started in the mist of darkness, then it breaks to dawn to those who are faithful until the end, and that is the power of our testimony which is our connection with Jesus Christ for Him to do His purpose through us. This is in only Act 16:6-30. But it speaks of things that did not happen in one day but it took real long time, for it required the Lord to prepare the team for such a wonderful experience, not undertaking a haphazard way of doing things.  We have nothing to lose in this life as long as it is hid (in) Christ Jesus.  We have only hell to lose and heaven to gain. God’s ways is always contrary to men’s ways, we seem to always love men’s ways....
After a long time of not visiting brother ____, the Lord worked out that I visit them. The Lord has been good to this family. When we last visited (the) children were not serious, but upon this visit I saw a tremendous change glowing with happiness on the Sabbath much as they are still worshiping under a big tree and Lord has also blessed the brother with some few earthly blessing's.  He has burden of children who are now in Secondary School which calls for a lot finance.  It was a blessing for me to visit, shared with him on the issue of SDR which he readily accepted (as) he saw it was timely for quickening of the work of the Lord.
I made another visit to Brother ____ and Lord was working in manner that is beyond our control. Found some two elders of SDA Church who were ready to join hands with us and they were even promising to give the land under their custody, but I counseled the brother that we are not after land but after souls who should prepare for the Lord's 2nd coming. The way the Lord worked upon these brethren’s was just by watching us and comparing with their mother Church. There are men out there who are longing for righteousness, they want to make their souls pure before the Lords cometh....
Yesterday evening received a call from brother ____ that they are organizing for another camp meeting in January 2007, they will communicate the date in the nearest future possible. Put these meetings in your prayers please. We are also organizing one at the end of this year into the next year.
Thanks a lot for your support and prayers that have made us what we are. May The One Who Blessed Jacob Bless us with all spiritual blessing in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 1:3....
We could not have the camp due many problems, sickness of some those organizing and the financial ineptness. We have push it to 30th/Dec/2006. It will take 7 days.
Brother ____ left the faith and joined himself with Sunday keeping Churches (and) he was given the position of a pastor (in that church).  But before that, when elder Snipes and Gary came this side, he wrote to them for help, which help they seem to have failed to render. This he thought (they) were getting that help (to him) and (he only wanted to) using it for his personal benefits. The way people understand this side beats my understanding, because as if God (is to be) served, in return helped (money and prosperity) must be given people (and if not, they change their faith and thus) are loosing their way with God for earthly treasures.
Some people in Brother ____'s place have separated from the main church thats in ____! It is sign of the work going ahead besides a lot of hardships....
Greeting to all the Churches of God THAT SIDE.
Yours in Christ, H.K., Uganda.
