Many, especially in the Evangelical and Protestant ranks, but also a growing number of our Home Church brethren, believe that the mark of the Beast of Revelation 13:16, 14:9, 11, 20:4, which is received in our hand or in our forehead, is to be identified as being a credit card, or lazar mark, or a chip implant, or National Identification Number, or giant computer, or some other literal thing. Connected with the above is the belief that if any of God's people possess or are in any way connected with the above items, then they have received the "mark" of this beast and are lost.

But what exactly is this "mark" of the Beast? The Greek word used for "mark" is "Charagma" (#5480 in Strong's Concordance), and it translates "stamp (as a badge of servitude), mark." So the mark of the Beast is a stamp or sign or seal or badge of servitude to some power or being. But what is the mark of the Beast, and how do we receive it? In order to know this, we must know whom the Beast represents.

The Beast which is connected with this "mark" refers to the Roman Catholic Church. So the "mark" has something to do with the papacy. As worship is the main issue listed in connection with this Beast (see Revelation 13:4, 8, 12, 15, 14:9, 11, 20:4), so the "mark" of this Beast is connected with the issue of worship. Then what could this "mark" of Catholicism be?

"Protestants...accept Sunday rather than Saturday as the day for public worship after the Catholic Church made the change...In observing the Sunday, they are accepting the authority of the spokesman for the church, the Pope." Our Sunday Visitor, February 5, 1950.

"It is well to remind the Presbyterians, Baptists, Methodists, and all other Christians, that the Bible does not support them anywhere in their observance of Sunday. Sunday is an institution of the Roman Catholic Church, and those who observe the day observe a commandment of the Catholic Church." Priest Brady, in an address, reported in the Elizabeth, N.J. "News" of March 18, 1903.

"It was the Catholic Church which...transferred this rest (Saturday as the Sabbath) to the Sunday....Thus the observance of Sunday by the Protestants is an homage they pay, in spite of themselves, to the authority of the (Catholic) Church." Monsignor Louis Segur, "Plain Talk about the Protestantism of Today," p 213.

"Of course the Catholic Church claims that the change (from Saturday to Sunday) was her act. It could not have been otherwise, as none in those days would have dreamed of doing anything in matters spiritual and religious without her, and the act is a mark of her ecclesiastical power and authority in religious matters." Letter from H.F. Thomas, Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons.

So the Catholic Church changed the original day of worship from Saturday to Sunday, which is the mark or seal or sign of the Beast's authority and power! As this is true, then Saturday must be the mark or sign of authority and power to someone else! But to whom? The God of heaven states:

"Moreover also I gave them My sabbaths, to be a sign between Me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them....And hollow My sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between Me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God." Ezekiel 20:12, 20.

Saturday is the Sabbath day of the Lord God, the seventh-day which He has blessed and made holy (see Genesis 2:2-3), and which is the mark or seal or sign of His authority and power. God has chosen this memorial day of creation above all the rest for all His people to worship Him on, and He even told His people not to forget this fact, but to remember it.

"Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and hollowed it." Exodus 20:8-11.

Here we see the difference between the mark or seal or sign of God, and the mark or seal or sign of the Beast. The God of heaven states that "the seventh-day [or Saturday] is the sabbath [or worshiping day] of the Lord thy God" Exodus 20:10. But the Beast states:

"Sunday is a Catholic institution, and its claims to observance can be defended only on Catholic principles...From beginning to end of Scripture there is not a single passage that warrants the transfer of weekly public worship from the last day of the week to the first." The Catholic Press, Sydney, Australia, August, 1900.

"...prove to me from the Bible alone that I am bound to keep Sunday holy. There is no such law in the Bible. It is a law of the Holy Catholic Church alone. The Bible says `Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy.' The Catholic Church says, No. By my divine power I abolish the sabbath day and command you to keep holy the first day of the week. And lo! The entire civilized world bows down in reverent obedience to the command of the Holy Catholic Church." Priest Thomas Enright, Redemptorist Catholic College, Kansas City, Mo., lecture "Sunday in History", p 56, February 18, 1884.

So the mark or seal of the God of heaven is worshiping the Lord on Saturday--His Sabbath--according to God's fourth commandment. In doing this, it is a sign that we show that we love, serve, and worship God. While the mark or seal of the Beast is worshiping on Sunday--the day of the sun or of the Blazing Star or Lucifer, his sabbath--after it is enforced. In doing this, it is a sign that we show that we love, serve, and worship the Beast and Lucifer.

Thus the mark of the Beast is not a literal mark, not a lazar mark, not a credit card, not an implanted chip, not a National ID Number, and not a giant computer, but it is a symbolic mark! Although all of the above items may be used to coerce and force us to bow and worship on Sunday, yet they are not the mark of the Beast. This symbolic mark will be either in the forehead--signifying mental acceptance, or that you believe Sunday is the sabbath. Or in the hand--signifying service, or that you may not necessarily believe Sunday is the sabbath, but you will go along with it anyway.

It is a fact that the papacy claims the power to change God's fourth commandment law from worshiping only on Saturday to worshiping only on Sunday as God's special Sabbath day. Thus anyone who knows this truth, and yet choose to worship on Sunday instead of Saturday as God's true Sabbath day, especially after it is enforced by law, are bowing to and worshiping the papacy instead of the God of heaven. Thus they will receive the mark of the Beast which destines them for the seven last plagues and the lake of fire (see Revelation 14:10-11, 19:20.

In like manner with the mark of the Beast, there is an ever growing confusion and misunderstanding among our separated people over the identification of the Image of the Beast. Those in the Evangelical and Protestant ranks identify this "Image" to be Satan himself or the Anti-christ. While many in our separated ranks identify this "Image" to be the Sunday Law.

Who represents the Leopard-like Beast? Both the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy clearly identifies this Beast to be the Roman Catholic Church or the papacy (see Daniel 7, in connection with Revelation 13:1-8, Signs of the Times, June 18, 1894, vol 3, p 125-26). So Roman Catholicism, an ecclesiastical body clothed with civil power, represents the Leopard-like Beast.

"...the beast with horns like a lamb is seen 'coming up out of the earth;' signifying that instead of overthrowing other powers to establish itself, the nation thus represented arose in territory previously unoccupied, and grew up gradually and peacefully.

"Here is a striking figure of the rise and growth of our own nation. And the lamb-like horns, emblems of innocence and gentleness, well represent the character of our government, as expressed in its two fundamental principles, republicanism and protestantism...civil and religious liberty." Spirit of Prophecy, vol 4, p 277 (see also SDA Bible Commentary, vol 7, p 975 col 1, 983 col 2).

So the United States with its civil government and powers based upon the principles of Republicanism and Protestantism, represent the Lamb-like Beast. But this Beast does not remain peaceful for ever, because in Revelation 13:11, 15 it states that he will speak with the voice of a dragon, and declare that an image to the papacy should be formed.

"When the churches of our land, uniting upon such points of faith as are held by them in common, shall influence the state to enforce their decrees and sustain their institutions, then will protestant America have formed an image of the Roman hierarchy." Spirit of Prophecy, vol 4, p 278.

"The image is made to the first or leopard-like beast, which is the one brought to view in the third angel's message. By this first beast is represented the Roman church, an ecclesiastical body clothed with civil power, having authority to punish all dissenters. The image to the beast REPRESENTS ANOTHER RELIGIOUS BODY clothed with similar power." Spirit of Prophecy, vol 4, p 278.

So when the Protestant churches waive their differences in doctrinal beliefs, unite upon the same common points of faith, and shall call upon and influence the civil government to enforce their rules and commands, then will the different churches of Protestantism have formed themselves into an image of the Beast.

"The Lord has shown me clearly that the image of the beast will be formed before probation closes; for it is to be the great test for the people of God, by which their eternal destiny will be decided....Rev 13:11-17....This is the test that the people of God must have before they are sealed." SDA Bible Commentary, vol 7, p 976 col 1.

So all the different churches of Protestantism, whose leaders form their church and its organization into a replica of Romanism, will be represented by the Image of the Beast. And the great test for the people of God will be upon these different churches of Protestantism who have formed themselves into the Image of Roman Catholicism.

Now, what if I were a member of one of these Protestant churches whose leadership had chosen to form my church into an image of Romanism; then upon whom would my great test be centered? Would it be centered on another Protestant church that I was not a member in? No, that would not be a very great test, because my affections and emotions would not be tied to that other church or its leadership, and besides I would not listen to them or their commands anyway. Then my great test would be centered on my very own church! My eternal destiny would be decided upon whether I would follow the rules and decrees of my church and its leaders whom I have been taught and led to respect and to obey as the voice of God to me, or whether I would follow the God of Heaven and His rules and decrees.

My great test would be whether I would remain a part of my corrupt church system, obeying their commands and teachings above God, being one with and of them, or whether I would show myself completely distinct from my apostate church system, refusing to obey their commands and false teachings, being at enmity against them. And my eternal destiny would be decided on whom I worshiped more, my church or God!

Yes, the Sunday Law will be a big test to God's people, but it is not the Image of the Beast! And multitudes, especially Adventist's, are being led astray into believing that the Image of Catholicism is the Sunday Law instead of what it really is--those Protestant churches who have formed their organizational structure into a replica or an image of the Roman Catholic Church.

"It was apostasy that led the early church to seek the aid of the civil government, and this prepared the way for the development of the papacy--the beast....So apostasy in the church will prepare the way for the image to the beast." Great Controversy, p 443-44.

So before any of the Protestant churches can form themselves into an image of the Beast they must first refuse to obey God's light and truths and choose apostasy and Satan's darkness instead. And the greater the light they reject, the greater the apostasy and darkness they will be under (see Testimonies, vol 1, p 345). And the greater the apostasy, the more closely will that church resemble Rome.

What are some Protestant churches? Episcopal; Presbyterian; Lutheran; Nazarene; Methodist; Baptist; etc. What about the Seventh-day Adventist church? Are they a Protestant church? Yes. In fact the SDA church was one of the greatest "protesters" against the Catholic church in the 19th century. So the SDA church is also one of the churches of Protestantism.

I can just imagine that many members of the Seventh-day Adventist church may deny and question whether their beloved church, which has been given the greatest light of any church in the history of this world, has chosen darkness and apostasy instead. Yet, it is true!

"Oh, if I could have the joyful news that the will and minds of those in Battle Creek who have stood professedly as leaders, were emancipated from the teachings and slavery of Satan, whose captives they have been for so long, I would be willing to cross the broad Pacific to see your faces once more. But I am not anxious to see you with enfeebled perceptions and clouded minds because you have chosen darkness rather than light." Testimonies to Ministers, p 396.

"Never before have I carried so sad a heart as since I have seen the apostasy of men and women who have had great light...but I have no power to change the seductive working of the enemy." Manuscript Releases, vol 7, p 193 (Letter 266, August 5, 1906).

As God's light and truth have been rejected and darkness and apostasy was chosen instead, did the leaders of the SDA church begin to mold the church and it's organization into being an image of the Roman Catholic church? If so, then the great test for each and every SDA church member will be upon their connection and relationship to their SDA church! Thus the big question is: Has the SDA church and organization been changed by its leadership and formed into an image of Catholicism?

In June, "Let There Be Light" Ministries, in connection with brother Gary and Elizabeth Cain of Warning! Last Call Ministries, decided to stand shoulder to shoulder in unity and brotherly love in this great work of spreading the full Gospel message to the world. Our unity is not based upon a hierarchy, nor are we seeking to control the movement of separation, nor are we seeking to control one another. The only thing we are seeking to control is ourselves so that we will not allow self to be revealed and thus open the door for division and dissension to occur. We are not blending our Ministries into one, but have agreed to help each other--including financially--in whatever righteous capacity necessary to further God's kingdom in the earth.

Many of our readers and supporters were mailed information describing the foundation and platform of truths which both our Ministries stand united upon, and we have been delighted with the positive and joyous responses we have received. We would like to hear from all those who received and read these truths. We also extend a hopeful invitation for other fully separated Ministries, ministers, and home church brethren to join us in standing upon the same platform of truth. For those who would like to receive the information mentioned, please write.

May we all earnestly work to crucify self and instead exalt Christ, and then labor to answer the prayer and hope of our Saviour--that we may be one (John 17) and that Gospel Order may be established in our ranks (EW 97-101). This is the only way to shut Satan and his agents out from among us so that greater praise and glory may be given to the God of all.

The Lord has been gracious enough to allow this Ministry to sponsor a new worker in a new Country! We are now sponsoring a full time minister/worker in Uganda, East Africa. He is already working to establish separated brethren in the full present truth, and is seeking others who are open to the Gospel message. Please keep him in your prayers that God will greatly multiply and bless his efforts so that Uganda may be lightened with His glory soon.

We have mailed 10 full boxes of our Spanish booklets through Warning! Last call Ministries to a Spanish contact. He is now in Mexico for several months, and is passing out these booklets to the people. Please keep him in your prayers--especially for many to be enlightened through God's Spirit and converted to follow the present truth. May God continue to open the doors into the Spanish field so that a rich and abundant harvest may be reaped for God's kingdom of righteousness.

As mentioned in our last Newsletter, we have started working in the area of inexpensive tracts for evangelistic outreach. We already have the 4 tracts mentioned in the last Newsletter in the computer. Besides these, we have several other tracts already typed into the Computer which cover other areas of truth, such as: The Great Battle of Armageddon; The Beast Identified; The State of the Dead; The Final Judgment: Sunday Sacredness; and God's Two Laws. We will soon have all 10 tracts formatted and nicely printed up. We will continue to reprint or produce other tracts until our complete Advent message is available in tract form to help to inexpensively evangelize the world and hasten our Lord's return. Your continued prayers are humbly solicited for this tract work.

We have included in the mailing of this Newsletter our latest tract dealing with the Laws of Health and Truth. It is titled These Laws Restore Health. We hope that many will be able to utilize this tract in their outreach program. We wish to extend a grateful thank you to sister Elizabeth Cain of Warning! We are also investigating other full-time ministers and workers whom we are praying over and considering for support. These potential workers are from several different Countries. The work of spreading God's present truth is not to be limited, but must extend world-wide, to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people before our Saviour can come (Matthew 24:14). What better way of spreading the present truth gospel than by having workers who speak the native language, who reside in that particular Country, who can live and preach the truth and visit the interests in their homes, and spread the printed truth translated into their common language!

Your views are based on the Bible and SOP and that combination always makes a lot of sense. I would appreciate it if you could send me your literature on this matter of unity. I would like to study it and share it too.

The SDA church is going from bad to worse. Quite a number of friends have confided in me that they plan to leave the church. Quite a number have indicated that they no longer plan to pay their tithes to the SDA church. My own brother is one....

...I must also thank you for your prayers and your support to the Namibian (home) church....When I left Namibia coming to the UK in September last year, the remnant church was very small in number, and we faced severe opposition from our former brethren. To my surprise when I arrived there, I found new faces, people who have embraced the Third angel's message and have separated themselves from apostasy. Brother ____ and his wife ____, and my wife ____, have won more souls to Christ. This was my happiest moment to see some souls taking a stand on the side of Christ. Indeed God will work in His own ways at this last moment. Furthermore, arrangements were made by the three, for the (home) church in South Africa to come to Namibia for a camp meeting. They came and dwelt with us and we were blessed with their presence....The three angel's messages were presented broken into: the separation, the health reform, the fourth angel's message or the latter rain, the sanctuary, the tithe, baptism and the Lord's supper....A total of 10 brethren including myself were re-baptized into the new faith....

It was a blessing to read "United Ministries Under John 17" and "Appendix 1-6." I am in agreement with the pillars of our faith and praying for the Lord's wisdom...Every morning, my prayers go out to your Ministry and Brother and Sister Cain's, as well as some other separated Ministries, I have been in contact with....Keep me in your prayers...

I have been privileged to browse through a copy of your book "Abomination of Desolation and Church History." It is really amazing to know how much information is contained in that compilation, and how ignorant we church members are to these things.

My mind is really blown apart to know where we were, where we are, and where we are heading. I believe we are a sorry lot right now. My question is, Is this book available in any quantity at all? (Yes)....I thank you in advance, as I anticipate an early reply please.

We have been busy conducting health reform seminars with the public. They went for 4 weeks and were able to sow seeds that the Lord may guide and direct according to His will....My family have commenced a study of Daniel and Revelation using Stephen N. Haskell Commentary, the books are a facsimile of his original writings. He was a very studious and knowledgeable man and we in turn are blessed as we use his commentaries to study prophecy....

Australia still remains a place of disunity amongst (separated) S.D.A.'s, what unity there was, is replaced by discouragement to see former brethren estranged from one another. I have met all kinds of heresies and by God's grace come through, but when discouragement sets in that was something I found difficult to shake. I know as I look to God He will help. I know its the 3rd angel doing its work of separating the wheat and tares and when tested by this message those who you thought should stand, fall short in knowledge of its true meaning....

Christian greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I was very happy to receive your recent tape and Newsletter, they are quite inspiring...these teachings are the awakening messages and we can never fall asleep. Elder, we are praying for you intensely, please keep us in your prayers also. It brings great joy to our hearts to see that our means are going towards the spreading of the Gospel so that more souls can be won to His kingdom....

Thanks much for the material you sent explaining the historic Adventist doctrines. I sent a copy on to my young friend who is about to fall into the "No Spirit" trap....The devil is busy as can be in all directions and we surely have to keep our eyes open, don't we?

Thank you for the video's. They are good edifying tools and good for witnessing as well. It is time now for us to work with every ounce of energy that we can muster up for the time of trouble is just before us. Let us sprint the final distance to the finish line of the Christian race.

I'm full of joy as I write this short report of work here. It is now about two weeks since we came out of an effort meeting that ran through 3rd to 10th May. That was the busiest week we have had recently especially as it followed our April Camp meeting closely. A total of 120 homes were visited during the period which ran only in the mornings, while the afternoons were earmarked for open air meeting. When some meetings ran into the dark hours of day, the generator was of much help in providing light. We could run projectors for non-SDA's if we had one, as the source of power is now available.

At the end of the effort a total of ten souls made a step forward towards Christ. Brother ____ and ____ put them before the Lord in prayer. They are all having studies before baptism. The Lord's hand was with us in many marked ways....

We are arranging another effort meeting at _____, ____ in June. Have this also in your prayers. God willing we shall have another in July in another place before we go to Camp meetings in August. If God will provide means, we wish to arrange for two Camp meetings: one at _____ as usual and another either in ____ or ____. As of now we may have enough personnel to seed the two. Please have that too in your prayers and may the Lord work mightily in these last days before our freedom be cut short....May God grant that His people shall be warned erelong when the course of history will never the same again....

I did meet with two groups in their respective church homes, one at _____ and another at _____. These are separated brethren, I did talk to them about the present truth as it is presented in your booklets. They have accepted, but they want to confirm with Spirit of Prophecy whether these things are so. Some had speculative knowledge about fasting, but they are ready to change. So your help will do us much good, that is Booklets, leaflets or tracts and Spirit of Prophecy materials are the most important needs for this minute. And Sabbath School lessons....

Lastly E.G. White says "those who desire a fixed amount to do and a fixed salary are not the ones whom God calls to work in His cause" M.H. 499. It is my prayer that whatever support given, it will not take the place of the work, the work is the Lord's and the support is man's.

The last part is mailed today 5th June. I will spend the next two days to prepare the May-June Newsletter article on S.D.A. - Babylon (into French tract form). I will send it to you for nice setting....I am preparing to take these tracts and booklets to these (SDA) places...

It's really good to give a monthly report on activities. But earlier on, I explained to you the situation of the Reform work among S.D.A. members. Most members learned of the apostasy in the church but don't actually know the nature of the evil in the church.

Some people just separate and either stay home or form a little company. They are holding views so contrary to the pure doctrine, to the extent of saying "The Sabbath does not save". Most of them don't know the importance of the Spirit of Prophecy. And this is simple because they have NEVER seen or read these books. Now with the coming of books and booklets things will start. I am visiting and holding meetings with members to bring them to accept one thing first: "To the law and to the testimony". Until they all see the obligation of these two things, no good can be achieved. Most of them who leave the S.D.A. church hold ideas almost similar to sunday churches.

Please, hear what the secretary to the S.D.A. Mission told me: "Sister White is human, she made mistakes." "Even the apostle Paul wrote some errors." "We are not going to worship Sister White as Catholics do with Mary." "The Bible only is our guide". And so many foolish things. So, most of them who leave the church are ignorant of true Adventism. Now they are coming to listen to the teaching in the booklets. That was the reason I needed tracts to share among them...

I am actively at work despite the troubles that have started in the Country. There is a very strong fear of armed conflict in the Country. On 21st June, Presidential elections were held. Now, the results are strongly contested. There is fear all over the city and the Country as a whole. I have just completed "Jeremiah" this morning. The typing is going on....I am starting the work on "The History of Separation I"....

The S.D.A. church here is part of the Ecumenical Council of Churches. Before the intervention of "Let There Be Light" Ministries, my group poses no threat to the Division and Union Missions of the fallen church. Now, they are wide alert as part of the translation of your booklets are being spread. This booklets are the first and serious threat to the church in West Africa (French or English speaking). The S.D.A. Church is now trying to intimidate me with accusation that we are a dissident group unlawfully operating. This is a serious situation....

Our Camp meeting and youth camp was a great success, and we gave all the glory to God for such tremendous power He bestowed....We really felt the presence of the Holy Spirit during our Camp meeting. There were heartbreaking testimonies, public confessions of open sins. Everybody forgives everybody, with those tears of happiness in their eyes. There were also precious souls who were once deceived by the enemy but who still struggles to follow Christ deep in their hearts....We also baptized 12 precious souls. What we thank God most was the unity and harmony that now existed in our midst. Of course we are still expecting problems. But at least we know now, who are with us and not with us.

We again send thousands of tracts to Luzon, including the Ilocamo version. We are on our way to print the Visayan version of Corporate Responsibility. The Sanitarium in Cotabato is already half finished. We are planning to have a restaurant in Cagayan de Oro....

We just arrive from our missionary trip. The Lord bless all our efforts. The brethren in _____ City not only renounce their errors and false teachers, but they will also stand with us in the atmosphere of Gospel Order. From there, we proceed to ____ City to meet some brethren there who were once deceived by this so-called no latter rain and no loud cry doctrine. They also renounce these errors by the grace of God and promise not to unite again with those counterfeit reformations and false teachers....

Upon arriving home we immediately send two boxes of pamphlets to _____ City and ____ City so that they can study more and be established more in the truth. They want us to go back next month. They also plan to have their own Camp meeting....

Our youth are so busy getting more people enrolled in our Bible Correspondence Course. They go house to house and also give tracts and pamphlets. Please pray for this young people. We also need Great Controversy books that we can give this people after they can finish their course...."If God be for us, who can be against us".
